luckycraft Posted April 27, 2011 Posted April 27, 2011 Unbelievable. The dam is a magnificent site and beautiful with all the flood gates open, Just terrible the destruction that water brings. Praying for drier days for you folks down there at taneycomo.
Brian K. Shaffer Posted April 28, 2011 Posted April 28, 2011 That pavilion will never look the same to me again.... thank goodness they are not going to raise the river by another 4ft. They did decide against that at the 3pm meeting today, didn't they ? I heard from the Jock 98.7 Fishin' Radio Show program that were possibly going to turn it loose tonight and raise the CFS to 90,000. But I think they changed their minds as the lake has crested. Members Louisiana Flyman Posted April 28, 2011 Members Posted April 28, 2011 After the water goes down, how long till the water clears? And with the high water do you think that the fish were pushed down stream and if so how long till they return to the trophy run area?

And with the high water do you think that the fish were pushed down stream and if so how long till they return to the trophy run area? Most of the fish (trout) come upstream to find the clearer water. The current doesn't seem to bother them, they either hug the bottom or hang out in the seems along the edges. '08 was a great year even during the high generation after the gates were closed, caught more browns during the summer and early fall than any other time. Also think of all the smallmouth, Kentuckies and walleye that will be there most of the summer. F2F
barredrock Posted April 30, 2011 Posted April 30, 2011 you ever pick up walleye on the fly rod when fishing for trout, or is it pretty rare????
Brian K. Shaffer Posted May 1, 2011 Posted May 1, 2011 I knew a guy named Sputty who fished down there years ago... one time night fishing he caught an 11 or 13 pound walleye.. and he thought he had the lake record brown... turned out it was just a walleye. He let it go to. Just once I wish a trout would wink at me! ozarkflyfisher@gmail.com I'm the guy wearing the same Simms longbilled hat for 10 years now.
