jah Posted May 11, 2011 Posted May 11, 2011 I read about "snagging" or "gigging" spoonbill in one of the other forums. What exactly is that Seth? Is that the only way to catch them? I did it once with my friend's dad who was a fisheries biologist specializing in spoonbill. You drift a boat and rig up a LARGE treble hook. Cast it out with a big rod and reel, let it sink to the bottom, and then start ripping it through the water. You're scraping bottom to try and hook these massive fish as you rip your hook through the water. It's exhausting. They only eat stuff that's nearly invisible, so no bait will catch them---at least to my knowledge.
