Tightline Posted July 29, 2006 Posted July 29, 2006 Fished below outlet 1 yesterday during and after big rain, caught 1 18"and 1 20" rainbow on black 1/64 jig.Seen a fellow land a nice brown that wouldve went 23" to 24" easy on a very small flat fish or it couldve been a lazy ike.
Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted July 29, 2006 Root Admin Posted July 29, 2006 Water on or off? Using the jig under a float or throwing it? What time of day? Is the brown still swimming? Thanks for the report.
Tightline Posted July 29, 2006 Author Posted July 29, 2006 Water was runing, throwing the jig and letting it drift with current,2lb test line no drag had to back reel with the bigger fish in that current,it was probably about 3:30 to 4:00 o clock, and yes he released the brown so fast I barely got to see it.
crappiefisherman Posted July 29, 2006 Posted July 29, 2006 lilley I remember when i was a young boy , my dad guided on tcomo and fished exclusivly with 64th ounce homemade jigs.I havent trout fished in years and am thinking about starting again.I am not a fly fisher but the micro jig thing is more up a crappie fishers alley anyway.I was wonderin can you jig fish below the dam. Also will the fly fisherman gripe at me for doin it? I really dont know so thats why IM askin. [ [
Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted July 29, 2006 Root Admin Posted July 29, 2006 I fish mainly jigs below the dam, esp if the water is running. This fly guy won't- for sure. I will ask what color you're using though, esp if you're catching fish.
crappiefisherman Posted July 29, 2006 Posted July 29, 2006 im gona have to ask my dad to tie me some,,,,,,,,,,,,hope hes got some ginnie feathers,,,,,,,,,,,i know its spelled wrong [ [
Danoinark Posted July 29, 2006 Posted July 29, 2006 This fly fisher won't either...I would probably ask you to show me the technique Dano Glass Has Class "from the laid back lane in the Arkansas Ozarks"
duckydoty Posted July 29, 2006 Posted July 29, 2006 This one don't care either. That's the only way I can get my son to go with me is if he gets to jig fish. A jig is pretty much what I'm throwing with the flyrod anyways. A big rabbit strip leech with dumbell weights for eyes. I just like the way it drifts better with the flyrod. Kansas Fly Fisher Posted July 29, 2006 Posted July 29, 2006 This one won't complain either. In fact, if your catching fish I may ask you to show me how it's done. John Born to Fish, Forced to Work KSMEDIC.COM
