Members Adam Snodgrass Posted May 21, 2011 Author Members Posted May 21, 2011 You guys make some good points. I think I'll go ahead and buy one even though I just C/R. I just started getting into fly fishing last fall and I really enjoy it. Pitching in to help support good trout fisheries in MO makes sense to me. Off topic, but I'm hoping to head down to the Current on Sunday for the first time in a month or two (If weather isn't awful). Any advice on best flies to start with? So far this year, I've only had luck with nymphs - hare's ears mostly. Is it Caddis time yet? BWOs? As I said, I'm a newbie so any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks, Adam

Thanks, Adam Depends on the water level. I'd go deep, bigger nymphs, buggers. Tonight's rain should be it, possible rain tomorrow. So, hopefully the river will not go too high. I'm heading down Sunday. Check the earlier report from this week for possible flies. I use tandems, various combos. If it's up, I'm throwing streamers for part of the time.
Gavin Posted May 21, 2011 Posted May 21, 2011 Your Scottish ancestors...are probably rolling in their graves....but you made the right decision ! Rising water is good...rip some big minnow type stuff....drag a sculpin....or nymph with dark, light, or bright flies....rubber leg stones, eggs, worms...stuff they can see...chartruese, black, dark brown......peach, white....lots of shot and a bobber if fly fishing.
