Worst tornado to hit in Missouri history they say. Hope anyone from the forum that lives there or in the surrounding area is ok.

Not belittle the enormity of it. but I wonder what they base that on? I can think of one that probably rivaled it at least.

I'm not sure I can remember a Missouri tornado with the death toll that this one will sadly probably end up with.

My DIL's aunt was visiting at the hospital when it hit. In the short conversation she had with her the message was one of chaos in flying debris.

Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.

Buddy in the medical field called me this morning and evidently the whole newbrn wing of the hospitol was wiped out along with the nursing home end. A very sad deal for the families involved. The death toll is expected to climb they won't let media in due to the gruesomeness of the wreckage. God and mothernature are aweinspiring. flooding and lack of fishing opportunity pales in comparison.

Anybody know if any of the deaths were at the hospital?

I'm sure there were plenty of injuries.

I've always said, if you're gonna get hurt, the hospital is the place to do it. But not like this.

There's a fine line between fishing and sitting there looking stupid.

Denny. If there are ppl who want to come help go through rubble for survivors, can they just drive over and help or is there enough help? The reason I ask is that I know of one guy who drove up last night and he's been there since helping. He just jumped in and went to work. He said they needed more hands but that was last night. Have another friend who was heading up at noon with his front loader from neosho.

They want volunteers to go to the command post where the home depot used to be on 20th and rangeline. The traffic in the hard hit areas is getting bad. They have National gaurd in place now and are stopping people from going into these areas, to stop any looting. I tried to get in today to help cut trees and move debris, but was told to go home. Best bet would be to check in at the command post and let them put you where they want you.

I don't know, the one we were in 1957 (Ruskin Heights) was on the ground for 70 miles. My grandparent drove up from Joplin back then to be with us. My grandparents aren't living now but the house they had built for them down in Joplin (about 17th and Massachusetts) is no longer their from what I here.
