I have never had a problem with the satalite module on any of my Lowrance units, and know of no one else that has. Have had some troubles with the sonar tranducers, but nothing on the GPS.

Call or take it by Marine Repair Center in Springfield, and they will have it fixed immediatly. Of course, make sure all your wires are properly connected and nothing has frayed.

I would bet your antena is bad.

Good luck and let us know what you find out and how it gets fixed.

Thanks Bill

I had that same problem on my old boat but for the life of me I can't remember what it was. I may be way off but I was thinking there was an inline fuse that had went bad. Good luck and I am sure Lowrance can help you out after the Holiday weekend.

thanks techo but i have already tried the reset you sent me to. worked fine for about 3 years. things like this drive me nuts. you are also correct in that it is a handheld unit. i use mine with the plugin. really good when running at night. i dont want to try the hard reset because it destroys waypoints. we have a lot of boat positions marked on the unit.

took the H2Oc unit to marine repair center as suggested by mr babler. the results are as follows. the unit i have is only 3 years old. they no longer make them, or parts for repair. if you own one now and something goes wrong with it your just crap out of luck. just as i researced before posting its true. no help is available. some of my friends told me not to buy a lowrance product before i purchased it. it lasted 3 years so maybe $100 a year is a good lesson. am i upset you bet! mr babler i have nothing but total respect for you and i realize you have nothing to do with this problem, but when a company sells a product and doesnt service it, they are totally out of line! thank you for trying to help, thats more than lowrance has done. if you have another suggestion or can help with lowrance i would appreciate it.

I think you'll have a hard time getting anything electronic fixed after three years.

Lowrance has been known to let you upgrade your electronics with newer versions at a discounted price if they can't fix it. You might contact them about that unless your completely done with their products.

This is probably true, but sad. If I pay good money for something like this, I expect it to work for more than 3 years... and if it starts having a problem, I would expect it to be repairable.

Lowrance shouldn't make a product that they are going to deem unserviceable just three years later. Companies shouldn't be selling "disposable" products, unless they are selling them for a "disposable" price.

Three years from now, what if Lowrance won't service a malfunctioning HDS unit that someone buys new today for $2,500+? It makes me leery, to say the least.
