Fished with Phil Lilley and Brent Frazee long time Sports Editor of the KC Star last thursday. Brent is a super guy and a very good fisherman. He was here to get the real scoop on the water, and report what the fishing and the area was really doing.

He was not here to sing gloom and doom or to say the lake is unfishable and dangerious, as is still being put out by Springfield, Kansas City and St. Louis news outlets.

Man could he have picked a colder day. Did not get out of my coveralls or hoody and rain coat all day. High air temp for the day was 48 and the surface temp in the strong wind dropped to 62. Did manage to trick a few. Not what we had been doing, but enough to show that fishing and boating on the Rock is alive and well.

Nice to have someone in the news media, accually come and report the true facts, rather than sensationalize a bad situation.

Thanks Brent

The Outdoor Guys, Ken Taylor and Brian Wright on Hot Talk 1510 Kansas City, are also part of the media reporting actual conditions. We either call several guides every week, or are personally on the lake on a regular basis to make sure we are reporting acurate conditions. Just want to make sure we are not lumped in with those guys spreading the gloom and doom! :have-a-nice-day:

We appreciate it.

Springfield Mo. TV has done more to damage this area than immagenable. I think when push comes to shove, they will end up doing more damage in loss revenue than all the real flood damage caused. They just keep on pounding and pounding. They are still showing flood and high water damage pictures as late as yesterday of taneycomo, while talking and reporting on Table Rock.

Some of the video they have been showing on taney was done a month ago, and they keep calling it Table Rock Lake.

Just flat stupidity and irresponsible reporting. A true travesty.

Really have no idea why they just keep on busting our chops. I'm sure someone's dog or cat is lost in Springfield and they could have a field reporter working on that.

In Branson, we have just about had a dose of everything Springfield.

The best part of the whole situation is that Brent Frazee could not have had two finer gentlemen as well as knowledgeable fishermen and sportsmen to take him out to see the situation at the lake. Lots of just good folks in your neck of the woods .... to bad that the sensationist usually get the press releases with all of the "crap" instead of the facts that if you are knowledgeable enough and skilled enough there is seldom no such thing as a bad day on the water. Just days that you have to try harder and smarter and longer.

The only things that mater with the Media are the doom and gloom. If something good happens it never gets reported but when something bad happens they are all over it. They need to have something with controversy to report on as they think that is news. It is all about ratings and the gloom news must get them better ratings.

Respect your Environment and others right to use it!

Thom, Gary, both of you boys hit it right on the head. Do you think they ever take into consideration the damage they are doing with all the false and inaccurate statements they have been putting out?

When I was a kid, Springfield was a country town with loads of common sense. They have more than turned city, and really have no idea of what honesty is all about. It is only rating that matters.

We know the truth and we have a very big guy on our side.

God Bless and Good Luck

High water isnt scaring me off... Dont care about the news reports, I get the real news right here.

Our annual vacation is coming up in a week, Probably be 30-40 people total invading the resort we stay at. Pretty much have the run of the place. I dont even care if it rains on us all week... we still have a great time. The place has its own ramp, so even in 08 we didnt have any problem.

So, while the news reports may cripple attendance from the impulsive crowd, I consider myself a regular visitor (eventually a landowner) and Im sure there are plenty more out there that will make the trip like us.

Now Im not saying the economy is all roses, My wife lost her job 9 months ago, I would love to hire another guide, but I just wont have as much to spend this time around... but we are STILL coming to harass your fish for a week, Promise to put em back too.

Has anyone considered contacting the media outlets that are spewing the un-truths? probably wont get em to run a retraction, but you might be able to get them to at least stop spreading the lies.

Seeya in a week! (cmon smallmouth... hope the pattern is still on!!)
