Seth Posted June 10, 2011 Posted June 10, 2011 Shad were few and far between at the wall. I figured they would be easy to get since they have been generating lots of water. I managed to get six, which was plenty since fishing was so slow. All night long I had nibblers that I couldn't hook. I managed to get two channels about 4 pounds a piece and that was it. I'll probably hold up until July and hope things pick up by then. On a side not, man I can't believe how bad the asian carp are up there anymore. Once it got dark, you could shine your light in the water and see hundreds of them about a foot long feeding under the surface.
emjay Posted June 10, 2011 Posted June 10, 2011 Thanks for the report man. Been debating on going up there but I'll hold off. Those dammn carps are over at truman too. Blocking all the casting areas when they surface up like that. I caught one right on the mouth the other day running my spook into the crowd haha. I was telling my buddy that I'd bet him money if he could throw his crappie jig right into the mouth of one for a hole-in-one haha .
slothman Posted June 12, 2011 Posted June 12, 2011 There were thousands of fingerlings there this time last year. It is unbelieveable how bad they have gotten. Only a few years ago I hadn't even heard of them, now they seem to be everywhere.
Seth Posted June 13, 2011 Author Posted June 13, 2011 I've seen them at Bagnell for years now, but nothing like that. A person would get lots of bowfishing practice up there that's for sure.
moodyfour Posted June 24, 2011 Posted June 24, 2011 Went Tuesday the 21st, got up there by 7 and no shad to be found anywhere with very little water generating. Went out and Asian Carp and Big Mouth Carp everywhere just below the putin. Used the asian carp for cut bait to catch a few small and I mean small catfish. Caught one channel that weighed about 4lbs and other than that most were under 12 inches. Caught one decent white bass and one male white bass... They began generating quite a bit of water just before noon, but fishing was still fairly slow. One of the worst fishing trips I have ever had to Bagnell.
Hog Wally Posted September 10, 2011 Posted September 10, 2011 Can anybody respond to what's happening at the dam with the whites and hybrids? I was there two weekends ago Sunday morning and caught nothing but watched to jack wagons put there boat up against the dam and limit out on the biggest hybrids I've ever seen pissed me off so bad I considered calling the conservationist on em but figured they were ameren workers or something along that line. Anyway if somebody could relinquish some info on the when and where's it'd be appreciated. Savvy?
Hog Wally Posted January 24, 2012 Posted January 24, 2012 Maybe everybody is keeping hush mouth cause there's a good bite Goin or maybe it's cause there isn't anything happening?
Members bourbeusefisher Posted January 24, 2012 Members Posted January 24, 2012 I actually snagged one when I was fishing for bass around new years this past year.
