flytyer57 Posted June 14, 2011 Posted June 14, 2011 On my way to Crooked Creek this morning, while driving on Hwy 62 near Cotter, AR, I killed a deer. Stupid thing thought it could headbutt the side of my van and get away with it. It didn't. There's a fine line between fishing and sitting there looking stupid.

Trout Commander Posted June 14, 2011 Posted June 14, 2011 Geez when it rain's it poors huh? BTW, people of Arkansas, there are easier ways to harvest deer. I have spent most of my money on fly fishing and beer. The rest I just wasted. The latest Trout Commander blog post: Niangua River Six Pack
flytyer57 Posted June 14, 2011 Author Posted June 14, 2011 Left it on the side of the road. I wanted to go fishing. There's a fine line between fishing and sitting there looking stupid.
Evolution Posted June 15, 2011 Posted June 15, 2011 Also had an encounter not to long ago but only received a few scratches on the passenger side of the car. Wanted to stay at the lake all night but was to hot to sleep in the car. I think it's time to step up to HID lighting with the proper retrofitting.
FishinCricket Posted June 15, 2011 Posted June 15, 2011 So sorry to hear this happened... I bet it occurred near one of those daggum "Deer Crossing" signs, didn't it? Maybe, if they'd quit putting up those signs, deer would stop attempting to cross there and these senseless accidents would stop. You should call the state and tell em that.. Again, sorry to hear about this... I know firsthand how an accident can quickly put a hurtin' on an otherwise good day.. cricket.c21.com
Gilly Posted June 15, 2011 Posted June 15, 2011 I must say the deer are well trained down there...it did a job on your van. Years ago when I was in high school I had a morning paper route. The 'stud' in our neighborhood always had cool cars. In particular a '69 Camaro rs/ss. I loved that car. One morning I'm walking my route and....oh Lord, what happened to my dream car? In front of me sitting in his driveway is a trashed Camaro. To the extent that the A pillar was almost buckled in two. The roof was caved in and up, deer hair and blood everywhere. Passenger front and side of car were damaged but not that bad. Apparently the deer leapt..just not high enough.(The 'studs' new car was a super rare '70 Monte Carlo although at that time we couldn't know how rare some of these cars would be.) www.drydock516.com
flytyer57 Posted June 15, 2011 Author Posted June 15, 2011 I bet it occurred near one of those daggum "Deer Crossing" signs, didn't it? I don't think there are any deer crossing signs in that area. In fact, I don't recall seeing any down here in AR at all. But since when do deer read signs anyway? They cross the road where ever they want. But only when a car or truck is coming it seems. There's a fine line between fishing and sitting there looking stupid.
