Found this journal, which can be downloaded for free, link below, written by the "Lewis and Clark of the Ozarks", Henry Rowe Schoolcraft. He traveled up the White river (1818 and 1819) and into Northwest Arkansas. Haven't read it all yet, just skimmed through parts of it, but it is very interesting.
