I wasnt fishing for trout or white bass..) Back a round the first of the year a couple of guy from the forum gave me a pointer shad... so I tied it on.... WHAM... first cast.... 19in walleye!! 3 white bass..... WHAM again.... I bring in a VERY sweet... VERY big walleye 27incher.. my biggest one so far this year in 08' my biggest 2 were just over 31 inches MMMM... walleye poppers!! By now the skeeters where chewing me apart... Since Easter... this brings my walleye count up to 13.... http://www.taneycomonights.com
Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted June 23, 2011 Root Admin Posted June 23, 2011 Are other guys targeting walleye, you think? I wonder how many total have been taken. I've caught 3, released 2.
Members kc outdoorsman Posted June 23, 2011 Members Posted June 23, 2011 with the dingy water does line size still matter or can you cheat and go to 8-10 lb line?
Leonard Posted June 23, 2011 Author Posted June 23, 2011 yes they has been a few guys up there targeting walleyes.. and we have been catching them.. But the one I caught last night has been my biggest this year,... Most I have seen has been in the 16-20inch range..... so that one really was a nice surprise. KC... Most of the time I using 8lb maxima.. Last night I was using 6.... Right now I would rather use 8lbs... looks like the bigger are coming up.... http://www.taneycomonights.com
hillbillyflyshack Posted June 23, 2011 Posted June 23, 2011 Leonard glad to hear you finally tried the pointer and it worked for you. It will catch most anything that swims if you have the patience and persistance to fish it. Just got my replica back of the Brown I caught in January and wish to thank Phil for mentioning Don Frank as a taxidermist. He did a fantastic job.
patfish Posted June 23, 2011 Posted June 23, 2011 I hit the from about 7pm till 10pm... Only the nocturnal Leonard calls that time frame "afternoon".
fly2fish Posted June 24, 2011 Posted June 24, 2011 Only the nocturnal Leonard calls that time frame "afternoon". That is real early for him, 10PM is about his usual starting time. Must have been a cloudy day or the sun on the back of his head would have sent the fish to cover. F2F
