HighPlainsFlyFisher Posted June 23, 2011 Posted June 23, 2011 Just got back from a little weekend trip down to the Current River. We caught good numbers of fish , mostly nymphing during the day and throwing streamers during lower light hours. Nothing big was caught but we had our opportunities and just didn't make good on them , you know how it goes. Didn't see many risers , there were a few on a couple mornings but I opted to stick with the nymph rig as most of the fish were feeding subsurface. It was a great trip and I can't wait to get back , the Current is definitely one of my favorite rivers. There's a full TR with a few pics on my blog......Jeff http://highplainsflyfisher.blogspot.com/

The brown was super fat. Also, nice black streamer tie. Your blog report was a great story. So that was your guys' camp there at Eagles. I noticed the fancy wader drying tripod thing when I was heading home on Sunday. Can't wait to camp down on the Current this Fall.
Gavin Posted June 23, 2011 Posted June 23, 2011 Nice report..and thats one heck of a rainbow from that other creek. Good for you!
stlfisher Posted June 23, 2011 Posted June 23, 2011 Great report and very entertaining. Some very nice fish and looks a great time! Thanks for sharing.
HighPlainsFlyFisher Posted June 23, 2011 Author Posted June 23, 2011 Yeah , that was us at Eagles. That fancy wader drying tripod was actually a lantern stand doubling as a wader hanger but hey it works! I was stoked with that wild fish , like I said , fish of the year for me. Thanks for the comments guys......Jeff
joeD Posted June 23, 2011 Posted June 23, 2011 Great pictures and report. Well done. That egg sandwich looked mighty tasty.

Members Born to Fish Posted June 29, 2011 Members Posted June 29, 2011 Thanks for sharing! Loved the blog!! I'm eating lunch at work today and, for a while as I read your blog, I was taken back to days I have spent on the upper Current fishing for those beautiful trout. I haven't been down there in about 20 years when a car hit me head-on just outside Salem on Highway 32 on my way home. Luckily, I just broke several fingers and a couple bones in the hand from bracing myself on the steering wheel. Man, I need to get back down there! I'm haunted by water!!
ozark trout fisher Posted June 29, 2011 Posted June 29, 2011 Thanks for the report. I enjoyed the blog post a lot.
