I just moved down here from South Dakota and am really impressed with this website and attitudes expressed by the contributors. Since I only live about 40 miles from Stockton, It looks like I will be fishing there. I haven't fished crappies since I was a little kid with my grandpa. Have fished walleyes out on the Missouri River resevoirs and prairie lakes most of my life. I am curious. When reading posts, I see references made to CC and the "flats". Could anyone give me an idea where those are? I have to get some surgery out of the way and then I will be able to start fishing again. So if you see an old guy, with an old Princecraft 16 footer, give me a wave or a holler. I will probably be fishing during the week, since I don't have much patience with jet skis and slob boaters. Good luck to all of you who put out a line!

I am a Table Rock type, so I can't give you info on CC and the "flats." However I can point you at members by the name of Tablerock, Powerdive, Rangerman, Walleyed Mike, and Walleyerich. All fish Stockton fairly frequently. All good guys. You might PM them, introduce yourself, and ask a question or two. They have been very helpful as I have tried to learn more about catching eyes.

BTW, welcome to the forum.

I spend most of my time fishing Stockton, I would assume CC is Crabtree Cove ... as far as the flats, i would think anywhere on the lake, but to me when I fish the "flats" it would be in the Ruark Bluff area...Maybe someone else can be more specific...good luck. AND, I went to the Black Hills fishing last summer and had a blast!!!!!

A strike indicator is just a bobber...

CC is the Greenfield landing area right by the Hwy CC bridge. It is accessible from Hwy 160 a few miles east of Greenfield. The flats are all over the place above the bridge on the right going up stream to Turnback Creek and on the right going down stream from the launch area. There are lots more flats up and down.

Dutch is dead on. I usually refer to Greenfield Landing as CC because there is a small launch off of highway 39 that some people refer to as Greenfield. In order to avoid confusion I call I call it CC because there is only one highway CC on the lake. My take on the flats is any mud flat on the lake. This area was (is) very hilly when they flooded the area so there is a lot of steep drop offs and bluffs on the lake. To me any area with a level bottom for more than a few feet is a flat! lol By the way ... welcome to the area and I look forward to you posting your results. Good luck with the surgery.

Thanks a lot for the info. This will help. I will still probably fumble around but at least I will know the general direction in which I should be fumbling! haha

Thanks so much for the info. As soon as I get my legs back, I'll be out there and I will sure let you all know what kind of luck I had.

the crappie have been really good on the main lake lately near chanel swings in 30 foot of water in the timber. the bass have been really good at cc on big worms texas rigged as well as carolina rigged. the walleye have been biting better at night than the day in the same areas as the crappie have been.
