AGFC will decide the new fishing regs for Arkansas on August 17.

Here is the only proposed change on the Lil Red for next year.

8. On the Little Red River, implement a 16-24 inch slot limit on all trout, of which one may exceed 24 inches, change JFK and Mossy Shoals catch-and-release area to artificial lures only areas.

On the Little Missouri there are some proposed changes also.

5. On the Lower Little Missouri River, implement one fish creel limit and 18-inch length restriction for smallmouth bass. On the Narrows Tailwater, implement a trout delayed harvest area. On the Narrows Tailwater, implement a brown trout catch-and-release area from Narrows Dam to Highway 27 Bridge. On the Ouachita River, upstream of the confluence of the Little Missouri River, close commercial fishing during January through March.

Phil, good question. I took it to mean the slot would apply to all of the Little Red. As to the bait and or lure restrictions are you talking about at JFK and Mossy? This was the only information that was in the AGFC newsletter I get. I can ask those questions though. Dan

Phil

I did get an answer back from Mike Davis who fishes the Little Red almost daily and is President of the Friends of the Little Red told me the slot does apply to the entire river. He also said bait fishing will no longer be allowed in the C and R areas. He also thinks all artificials in those two areas mentioned..JFK and Mossy Shoals C and R...will have to be barbless. This is not official, so I will still try to get a more clear answer from AGFC.

I remember the last time we heard regs were going to change on the white... someone threw a ranger wrench in the works and it didn't happen. :(

Sound good. Jeff Williams from AFGC came to St. Louis and spoke about the L. Red a couple weeks ago. From what he said there are too many small fish in the river. Hope the 16-24" slot will improve things. Cheers.
