timsfly Posted July 6, 2011 Posted July 6, 2011 Wife and I are staying in Branson tonight, she is by the pool and I went fishing. 4 units running, nobody up at outlet 1, just one guy and me, I must have caught 30 in about 90 minutes, almost all on a deer pellet fly, 2 or 3 would have gone 18"-19" It was fun, kinda boring after awhile, but still better than working 6' 2wt and a new peerless reel, 5X tippet, only broke off once. I'll try to do It again tomorrow. Tim Homesley 23387 st. hwy 112 Cassville, Mo 65625 Roaring River State park Tim's Fly Shop www.missouritrout.com/timsflyshop
flyfishmaster Posted July 7, 2011 Posted July 7, 2011 a 6' 2wt with that much water. That is impressive. Later, FFM Woo Hoo Fish On!!
rainbow Posted July 7, 2011 Posted July 7, 2011 Can't believe you got bored doing that Tim with a 2wt.
snagged in outlet 3 Posted July 7, 2011 Posted July 7, 2011 Nice, trying to corral pigs with a buggy whip!! Pete
timsfly Posted July 8, 2011 Author Posted July 8, 2011 I've landed lots of 10lb + trout on my short soft buggy whips, with 5X tippet you hardly ever break off, I think I get better leverage on the bigger fish with the short rods. As long as the trout don't run straight out into the main current, I can handle fish like I was catching, just fine on my light short fly rod.
