Fishing Report Lake Springfield 07/07/11

over the last two years I've caught a few, but nothing remotely that size. What size was that spinnerbait and how deep were you fishing?

it was a 1/2 oz and i was slow rolling it about 6-8 ft. if anyone ever wants to go to lake springfield when i get my motor fixed are more then welcome to join me. i try to fish it once a week but i have been known to fish it up to 4 times a week. ive never caught crappie on anything but minnows. im used to stockton minnow fishing. i thought it was a bass at first. i saw on the mdc website it would have met the master angler requirements and the crappir record is around 4 or 5 pounds. but for master angler its 15 inches and around 2 pounds. it was close. next time im taking my scale and measuring equipment.

I've learned a lot from his videos. i went quite a few times and didn't catch anything. i watched his videos and messaged him a few times and now i can catcha few on a trip. he is a great wealth of knowledge. i think the lake is only going to get better this year. the river portion is starting to come in with the fish they have been staying in the main lake until the last few weeks. this hot weather has them in a late august early september pattern from what he was telling me.

is that to say they are moving to the river section under the freeways?

I can never pattern Springfield lake for some reason.

there is a tree down river from the bridges and there wher ei ahve caught a few. hopefully they are heading to the river.

That is a good crappie, Quite a few years ago, when I was 3 I caught a 21.5 incher but was pretty skinny, She only went about three pounds but was long as could be. Had it mounted, and subsequently got stolen, but someday I might have a replica made. I have also seen some big ones come out of table rock.

Noticed in the video he was fishing out of a float tube. I thought you could not put these in Lake Springfield.

i have not seen anything saying you can't. all i have seen is as long as it is not over 6 hp you can put it in. he has a belly boat too. he has been fishing it for yrs. he is the only one i have seen using one. i usually see boats, canoes, or kayaks. i have a 5 hp motor on my 14 ft alum richline boat and a 50 lbs thrust trolling motor.

I've seen him as I paddled upstream from the ramp under 65 - kind of sad to paddle past someone going backwards in a float tube, fish for an hour and a half or two, then paddle back down and pass the guy going back the other way who hasn't made it more than a half a mile upstream in the time you' e been up there fishing. I guess that's dedication.
