Fish Bork Posted August 10, 2006 Posted August 10, 2006 Is there anywhere around here to get a good deal on some gigs? Thanks Time flies like an arrow. Fruit flies like a banana.
Kayser Posted August 10, 2006 Posted August 10, 2006 If you want something, try Paul's Bait & Tackle on Chippewa. They have almost everything that you could possibly imagine, from Fly Materials to Muskie Baits to Snagging Equipment to Live Bait. They may not have the best prices, but they will most likely have it. Rob WARNING!! Comments to be interpreted at own risk. Time spent fishing is never wasted.
jdavis Posted August 11, 2006 Posted August 11, 2006 Bork, Are you looking for a sucker gig or a frog gig?
Fish Bork Posted August 11, 2006 Author Posted August 11, 2006 Sorry, sucker gig Time flies like an arrow. Fruit flies like a banana.
Kicknbass Posted August 14, 2006 Posted August 14, 2006 My Dad makes fish gigs and has them posted on Ebay (my brother's idea) - Hand forged gigs by Don Baker. http://sporting-goods.search.ebay.com/Fish...mZR8QQsacatZ382 He made gigs for several years as a hobby after he retired and still has a few available. They are also available at Ernies sales and Service (Webb Creek) and Gastenue Hardware in Ellington Mo. Both 3 and 4 prong styles are available. Good Luck. Wayne SW/MO Posted August 14, 2006 Posted August 14, 2006 I was thinking that unless things have changed, there are no "companies" making jigs. I do have to ask fish bork, if you are new at it, how do you intend to use them? Giggers I've known have a sizable investment in equipment. Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.
Fish Bork Posted August 15, 2006 Author Posted August 15, 2006 I've done it before with friends and the dept at school is getting a river boat. Just wanted to go gig some suckers after we shock some fish this fall. Time flies like an arrow. Fruit flies like a banana.
Wayne SW/MO Posted August 15, 2006 Posted August 15, 2006 Ah, I was just curious, and making sure you weren't talking about grabbing. To compete nowadays you need a triple bank of Metal Halides and a generator. Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.
Members Wildside88 Posted September 27, 2006 Members Posted September 27, 2006 You can buy fish gigs at fin and feather in Springfield, MO They are not as heavy as Don Bakers gigs. But they are cheap at $20 a piece I bought a few for spares. I think that Bakers gigs are well made but they are to big for the suckers that I have been in the last few years, great carp gig if you are in to that. Any of you all every used High Intensity Discharge (HID) lights?? I was thinking about changing out my halogen and tryn them, but was wanting to know if any one else has used them. Thanks in advance.
