jdmidwest Posted July 12, 2011 Posted July 12, 2011 75 seems about right. With fuel the way it is, they just pass it along. We rented a canoe at 2 Rivers a few weeks back to go from Eminence to 2 Rivers, 47 bucks. There is a campground in town below the MDC access that will take you most anyplace if you camp there and have a group. Last few years we had enough for 8 to 10 boats and they would shuttle us up to Akers if we wanted to for regular price. We did Akers to Pulltite a few years back, scenery is nice, river can be crowded this time of year because of vacations. Several trout in the first part then smallies here and there. Go to Round Springs if you want a 2 day and take your time. "Life has become immeasurably better since I have been forced to stop taking it seriously." — Hunter S. Thompson
Gavin Posted July 13, 2011 Posted July 13, 2011 Akers to Pulltite.....fishing stinks...but its scenic...Current River Canoe has the concession at Pulltite....but they arent cheap....$55 for a car spot, no rental....Think one fellow owns 80-90% of the canoe rentals down there...seems odd that one person can hold the great majority of concession contracts....but it is what it is.. The prices are fixed......If you want one cheaper, you will have to arrange it with an aquaintance...not that hard to do really..plenty of folks wanting an extra $25 or so...
Kicknbass Posted July 14, 2011 Posted July 14, 2011 Google canoe rentals in Van Buren and you'll find an outfitter. Powder-mill to VB could be done in 1 long hard day if you stay moving (About 12 hours). I wouldn't recommend as a one day float. The river moves steady. If you want to take it in, 2 days would be comfortable. If you fish hard, 3 days possible. Powder-mill to log-yard is about 3 hours of floating. Lots of jet boats on the weekends above Log-yard, and below Waymeyer. Sunday PM can be worst that Saturday. That's the locals day on the water. Below logyard jet boat traffic much less. Beautiful stretch of river worth doing. " Too many hobbies to work" - "Must work to eat and play"
