straw hat Posted July 12, 2011 Posted July 12, 2011 Either tomorrow or Thursday I will be making a trip to the lake. I am going to be fishing with large shiners for cats. My question is can I expect to have a chance at walleye at this location and if so at what depth do you recommend I start fishing. This is a relatively long bluff and fairly steep made up of large chunk rocks from the size of a basketball up to the size of a small Volkswagon. The bluff ends in a steep pea gravel bank. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks guys.
rps Posted July 12, 2011 Posted July 12, 2011 That pea gravel bluff end point sounds like someplace I would try for walleye if it were here on Table Rock.
wtr dogs Posted July 12, 2011 Posted July 12, 2011 Straw: My best guess from my electronics last weekend is the thermocline is at 22 feet. Good luck and hang on tight! Home of the the dam of 2009 AKC National Debry Champion.--AMMOAMMO
minnowhooker Posted July 12, 2011 Posted July 12, 2011 Sounds like a good spot. I went at sun up last Friday and caught them around 18' but it was cloudy which looks like tomorrow might be with a chance of rain in the forcast.
straw hat Posted July 12, 2011 Author Posted July 12, 2011 Thanks guys. So if I am catching you right I should focus on the pea gravel point at around 18 to 22' and adjust from there as necessary. Sounds like a plan. I will post when I get back.
kwall Posted July 13, 2011 Posted July 13, 2011 Be ready for a good'in Straw ,18 to 22' is where I been catching mine mostly on points trolling harness rigs, good luck
