I have an 8 foot jon boat that I currently just row around the ponds and small lakes. I have a trolling motor I could mount. I tryed to figure out from the DMV site. It says motorized boats need a license but not sure if its the same if its just a trolling motor.

Anyone know?

Call your local license office and see if you have to register it for use on a public waterway.

Yes you would need to license it, unless they have changed recently.

Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.

Water patrol told me "any motorized vessel", to include electronic motors (motorized) as well as canoes (vessels)... So yes, if you put a motor on it it has to be registered.. No motor, no registration. (this is Water patrol verbatim)

"All motorized boats/vessels and any sailboats longer than 12 feet must be titled and registered."

Wording could be better. Break it up and it says 'All motorized boats/vessels must be titled and registered and any sailboat longer than 12 feet must be titled and registered'.

"Of all the liars among mankind, the fisherman is the most trustworthy."

"There's a fine line between fishing and standing on the shore like an idiot."
