I dont want to pay full price for dish TV on a vacation home. Watch about 3 hours of TV every 5-6 weeks while at the lake. Anyone found a provider who offers a limited channel vacation package ? Right now, OCCASIONALLY we get two Arkansas channels on our tv with digital antenna. BUT unreliable.. Im MY perfect world getting a handful of channels would be perfect as we want to watch evening news & weather when we are at the lake house. Thats about it.

It was suggested that I switch over my regular homes Cox catv & internet bundle to dish & just carry the box back & forth, but that would not work for us.. We need to keep Cox at home..

Paying 24.95 + taxes would be great on our primary residence, but at the lake ? Bad enough making the payments & utilities when we are not there..

Certainly someone out there is as cheap as I am..

Don't you find it a blessing that you don't have TV there???? :hope-my-fake-smile-works-again:

If you just want to keep up with the news get yourself XM Sirus Sat radio ... you get the major news channels (audio only) .. but again who wants to watch depressing stuff when you can be fishing. Just my humble opinion.

I came back from a 3 day in Ark on the Spring River and one of the guys at work asked "wasn't a shame about all of those people in Oslo?". I gave him a blank stare and said, "huh".

I did have a crank radio that had some good FM tunes, had one call on the way home on the cell, and can't say I missed a thing. The dry flies were singing in the trees. We watched a thunderstorm roll thru north of us Sat night. But the girls did read books on their Nooks.

Life is truly better without the media. And it was cooler during the weekend with out all of the "heat advisories", the daily "heat index", and the forecast for the daily "blazing sun". I normally expect this, it is July. I have had July for the last 48 years and I can't remember any of them being comfortable unless I was on the water.
