Members Hillbilly Deluxe Posted July 28, 2011 Members Posted July 28, 2011 Just thought I would post a snake picture I took last weekend on Table Rock. Anyone have other snake photos? Brian www.outdoorguysradio.com

emjay Posted July 28, 2011 Posted July 28, 2011 now..........which one of those snakes are poisonous?
Members One More Cast Posted July 28, 2011 Members Posted July 28, 2011 Copperhead and a cottonmouth I think. They were doing a sort of cobra dance when I was floating by them. Really cool to see My Dad used to tell me about Rattle Headed Copper Moccasins. Now I know where they come from.
Cocry Posted July 28, 2011 Posted July 28, 2011 This is the one thing that makes me not enjoy my stream fishing to the fullest. Excuse my language, but I hate snakes.
TroutRinger Posted July 28, 2011 Posted July 28, 2011 Just thought I would post a snake picture I took last weekend on Table Rock. Anyone have other snake photos? What kind of snake and fish are those. ...and Cocry, I know how you feel. "Of all the liars among mankind, the fisherman is the most trustworthy." "There's a fine line between fishing and standing on the shore like an idiot."
Kayser Posted July 28, 2011 Posted July 28, 2011 I think those two together were both cottonmouths- male and female, courtship dance. And that is a big timber rattler... As far as the full-on hatred of snakes, I never really got it. Granted, when water snakes try to crawl up my leg while I'm wading for trout, it freaks me out a little. But they're fine- they just think I'm a log and want to get out of the cold water. But seeing as I can't find any news articles on copperhead or cottonmouth fatalities, and most people will never see or even hear a rattler in their lifetime, why the hatred? Also, I've never seen a snake be aggressive until it feels threatened- aka, you try to pick it up, stomp it, etc. Besides, if you get bit, you were most probably doing something very wrong and/or stupid. Rob WARNING!! Comments to be interpreted at own risk. Time spent fishing is never wasted.
