I am, sitting here in front of the computer killing time. Probably will head out in about an hour. Try for bass on one of the local community lakes. I'm thinking big worms t-rigged and maybe some wacky senkos also.

Well, did you catch any fish?

Hope you caught a few.

I've been fishing most every night for the last three or four days, about 8 PM to about a half hour to to 45 minutes after dark (not tonight though- had to work late). It's been surprisingly good. Lots of decent sized bass and panfish, most on Woollies but a few on top too.

I have a theory about why the fishing has been so good lately in the evenings. I think with the extremely warm water temps on the lakes right now, the fish just aren't feeding much mid day at all. While the evening feeding period is always significant in the warm months, with this heat wave a large portion of the feeding that fish do is right at dark and a little after. So if you're out there for that you can have a really good time, but other than that the fishing is pretty much non-existent, except early morning.

I did, caught 5 LM, including this 24", estimated 7 lb. little piggy. Used a 10" Zoom OL' Monster t-rigged. Didn't expect to catch a big bass this time of year, got lucky. The bass bit really well from about 8 PM to 9:30 PM, then once it got fully dark they stopped and I went home.

That's a Hawg!

There is something about that big 10" worm to catch big bass.

Looking back on lots of trips I've made over the years it seems that the quick "hour or three" trips yield just as many big fish as the "missions" where that's the goal. Nice Bass!

I have been hitting the lakes in my area quite a bit lately and there is a pretty predictable pattern going for the last two weeks. I haven't been able to catch many after dark, but there has been schooling fish chasing shad on the main lake pretty much all day long. It is almost impossible to fish in the heat of the day, but mornings and evenings have produced some 100 fish days when I have been able to get on them. It is mostly 12-15inch largemouth bass but in early morning and evening there has been some nice white bass action as well.

I had a particularly good morning a week ago. I found a deep water hump near the old river channel, there was a school of white bass and largemouth on top of the hump. I was able to get fish on almost every drop from 5 am to 9am. Once the sun started to come up they were schooling around me for about an hour. My thumbs were worn ragged.

Nice evening fish!

I'm fortunate to live close to the community lakes here in Bella Vista, I can get out in the evening or early AM, fish for a few hours and come home. That being said, I haven't been motivated to go out the last few days, just too darned hot.
