Members GBpackerfan Posted August 13, 2011 Members Posted August 13, 2011 Hello! My buddy from Wisconsin and I are planning our first-ever fishing trip to Bull Shoals. We want to fish for largemouth bass during the pre-spawn, but neither of us know anything about the lake. What I'm looking for is any advice as to where to fish (upper vs. lower), ideal dates to come, campgrounds to stay at, and even a recommendation for a reasonable guide who could take us out for a 1/2-day just to acquaint us with the waters. I've just about exhausted my "Google-ing" efforts because bass fishing info about the lake seems very inadequate and hard-to-find, so that's why I'm asking for your help, please! The other question I have is: would Table Rock Lake be a better choice for a largemouth trip? I've heard great things about both lakes, but I just happened to come across Bull Shoals first, that's why it's penciled in for the trip. Really appreciate any advice! Matt
rps Posted August 13, 2011 Posted August 13, 2011 On Table Rock (I saw your other post)contact Bill Babler, Don House, Bill Beck, Captain Joe, or Jamie Kowalsky. They all guide there and post regularly on the forum. On Bull Shoals, Mike Worley advertises as a walleye guide but catches more bass than most bass guides. He is bullshoalsfishing.com.
Dutch Posted August 13, 2011 Posted August 13, 2011 When you get closer to your trip, monitor the lake levels. This past year we didn't have campgrounds on either lake because of high water. Bull is still 24' above normal even though we have had a drought this summer.
Wayne SW/MO Posted August 14, 2011 Posted August 14, 2011 BS is always shaky because it is the last lake in the chain and it has the largest flood pool. Table Rock would be a better choice in my opinion. Truman can also be good. Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.
powerdive Posted August 14, 2011 Posted August 14, 2011 Go Pack! (Sorry, Matt, can't help you on the bass)
