Fishing Report 8-16-2011

Fishing on Lake Taneycomo has been great this past week. The power generators have been left off most of the day and wade fishing has been possible. The U.S. Corps of Army Engineers has been running a little less than one generator either for just an hour or for a few hours in the afternoon. Table Rock Lake is down to 915.89 feet which is right at top power pool. This has allowed them to shut the generators off.

In the trophy area, the fishing has been great. I have talked to Rick Licek and Steve Dickey who are professional guides. They are doing well with 1/100-ounce yellow and peach eggs and micro jigs in ginger and olive. They have said that there are as many fish up there as normal, but they are catching the ones that are there. I have also been catching the fish up there on the 1/100-ounce eggs and also #16 midges in rusty, black and black/silver.

Below the trophy area there are a few more fish. They have been taking night crawlers very well and also white and orange Powerbait. A few guests who are staying here have also done well on spoons. I have done well on ginger-colored micro jigs, and sculpin- colored one-eighth ounce marabou jigs. Just below Fall Creek and right around Monkey Island have been the hot spots this week.
