What are the RV sites near Bennett that are not full of "party people"? No offense to them, but I'm looking for some place peaceful. I know about about the park, but it is full when I want to go.

Mic,

I'm not sure where the "Party People" are. I camp at Bennett 5-6 times a year and have never once had an issue outside of a couple of dogs barking too much. I am usually in CG #5 which is first come first served. Get there on Friday before 2-3pm and always find a spot unless it's a holiday weekend. There is a campground right behind Fort Bennett called Peaceful Valley I think and they may have a spot to put an RV for a few nights. Most I believe are full hook up. I'm not saying that you can't end up next to some rowdy people but, not usually.

NoLuck,

I've stayed in the park also with no trouble. As I was saying it is full. I heard RV parks outside the state park focus on floaters which have a tendency to get drunk and loud. I found a spot at Sand Springs. The guy at the desk told me the quite hours are enforced by on-site security. I'll let you know.

All the years that I have been camping at BSSP I have only had a couple issues with "partiers". I (like Rich) usually am in CG 5. I stay away from the Primitive sites as they usually are the tent campers who sometimes are the floaters/partiers. The other is stay away from the shower house due to the foot traffic.

If you have a problem report it. The CG manager is a great guy and is definately customer service oriented.

And the dogs that NoLuck referred to were not mine!!

OK...let me stress again. I've had no problems in the park. My question is for the RV parks "outside" the park.

I have stayed at the Riverfront Campgrounds (just up the hill from the Sand Springs location) several times.

It is run by the Glendenning family and has a large "primitive area for tents, and trailer/RV locations.

The trailer/RV locations are away from the tent areas and are spaced out a lot more than any other place around Bennett.

The Glendennings strictly enforce quiet hours and rowdy groups, and they will throw out groups not behaving.

I have personally seen them give a noisy group a warning right before quiet hours and within 30 minutes they were being evicted.

Check it out before you drive your RV there, the access road can be a little bumpy!

I look in my fly box and think about what should guide my choice of the best fly: the amount/angle of sun on the water, the water temp & clarity, what bugs are hatching, what the fish might be eating, and what worked last time. Then I remember what an old man told me... " Ninety percent of what a trout eats is brown, fuzzy, about 1/2 inch long and underwater."

There are a couple of places east of Ollies restaurant that are pretty quiet. One is the old Oak Hill and the other is a new one on the north side just before it. I don't remember if Oak Hill is still the name or not, but you can't miss it.

Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.

Wayne the the other is probably Thompsons. It is pretty nice for facilities. But their camping spots pretty much are a bummer. Gravel parking spots and not much else other than the hook ups.
