Jdecoudres Posted August 27, 2011 Posted August 27, 2011 I dont ever counter wrap the wire over the hackle is this really necessary?
Danoinark Posted August 27, 2011 Posted August 27, 2011 I don't think so and I know the fish don't care. The wire supposedly just makes the bug sturdier. Dano Glass Has Class "from the laid back lane in the Arkansas Ozarks"
Gavin Posted August 28, 2011 Posted August 28, 2011 Depends on how you tie them....Me...wire goes in at the back.....Hackle gets folded, tied in on the front and wound back. Wire gets wrapped forward to hold it down....Indestructable. You can do it the other way and that works too.Keep your candy in the water....a fish will eat it. Cheers.
Leonard Posted August 30, 2011 Posted August 30, 2011 I dont like to use wire in my woolies.... I pull about a extra 4 inches of thread off the before I tie.... I use this to reinforce the woolies... You can barely see the thread and they last.... I also like to tye in my hackle at the front.. and wind it back toward the tail. this way you get the size of the front hackle you want.. and if your hackle does break.. you only have to unwrap the head and not the whole thing http://www.taneycomonights.com
