Members Ranger Dave Posted September 13, 2011 Members Posted September 13, 2011 Drove to Cedar Ridge Sunday night. I was surprised to find the ramp was closed. When was the ramp closed? Can you use the ramp inside the camping area when the main ramp is closed? In the past they said the ramp inside the camping area was restricted to campers only. There weren't any signs along the way until right at the ramp. The sign simply said the ramp was closed due to low water conditions. I think the Corp could do a little better job of posting for closed ramps. I ended driving to Masters which wasn't too far away from Cedar Ridge but if I had known about the ramp being closed I would have drove directly to Masters and saved a lot of gas money. I was a little reluctant to drive to Masters because I feared once I got there I would see another sign saying Masters was closed as well. It would be nice if the Corp's signs referenced an alternate ramp when they put up a closed sign. Are any other ramps closed?
Flysmallie Posted September 13, 2011 Posted September 13, 2011 They should allow you to use the ramp in the camp ground. Sometimes they do and sometimes they make you drive somewhere else. The attendant that was there a few years ago was a jerk and would try to stop you, but it's stupid to drive all over the lake looking for another ramp when the campground is empty. Shouldn't be a problem now though.

Members Justin B Posted September 14, 2011 Members Posted September 14, 2011 I also tried Cedar Ridge this weekend, so I went down to the campground and they had signs said campers only. So then I drove on up to state park to put in. All the extra road time can really put a damper on the fishing trip.
Members luv2fish Posted September 14, 2011 Members Posted September 14, 2011 I was at Ceder Ridge three days last week and there were plenty of non campers using the ramp. Walleye fishing around that are was poor for us last week, crappie fair on minnows 18-20 in brush, but not all brush.
Members dscott Posted September 14, 2011 Members Posted September 14, 2011 I don't know how they can not let you use it. The permit you buy is not for a specific ramp, it pays for all core ramps. They cannot make up their own set of laws.
Members cabinman Posted September 14, 2011 Members Posted September 14, 2011 I am going fishing Thursday and Friday so I called the corp office at Stockton and they said you can still use the campground ramp when Cedar Ridge public ramp is closed.
Dutch Posted September 14, 2011 Posted September 14, 2011 I called the COE and was told that the regular ramp is closed because of low water. I was also told that the camper's ramp was available for anyone to use till the water comes back up.
Gilly Posted September 14, 2011 Posted September 14, 2011 Speaking of boat ramps, whatever happened with the vandalism of converters from vehicles in the area....was that legit? Never saw anything in any news source or police reports. www.drydock516.com
