BTW, Y'all are probably thinking why would someone don't know jack about fishing has a pricy and hi-tech fishfinder?

Well, that's easy because it came with the boat when I bought it!!

I struck out on the stripers back in PC, must have been to far back I guess, did catch a few black bass back there, lots of shad as F&F mentions. Still a great evening to get out.

WC - I think I saw you leaving the ramp when I pulled in about 1 PM, saw a yellow Nitro loading up at the PC ramp about that time.

Been sitting in PC since early this AM no fishing as im sure my customers I have to see today wouldnt appreciate the smell, Seen a few striper boils and a few bass boils, Lots of wood ducks that i know have their calender set to leave the day before season. Shad are flipping nice as well.

Man I hate it when work gets in the way of fishing time lol

Had a few rats in the 6 pound range as well.

I have spent most of my money on fly fishing and beer. The rest I just wasted.

So, everyone seen shad but me, I might need a new pair of glasses! I swear I was out here at least an hour yesterday looking for them, I started at the very back past the last boat dock on the left, where the water is barely 2 feet deep and turning into mud. I didnt' know the water was so shallow til the trolling motor stirred up mud.

Did I going too far? I eventually came out more along the south bank, I guess the north bank is where the old PC road and the dirt ramp are at. look for ripples on the surface (seen a couple, but nothing big)and didn't see any cloud on the finder, neither.

Maybe the shad are hiding from me, it was early afternoon, so they might be in deeper water.

F & F, do you have any suggestion on the Lowrance fish finder? I revised one of my post earlier about not seeing fish arches after turning of the fish ID feature. Appreciate any help!!

LOL you were not far enough up the creek, sorry had to say it before Quill can beat me to it he saw me stick my boat all the way up the creek :) When in that shallow DO NOT rely on depth finders your cone will be so small it will be of no use. What you are looking for is Shad flipping on surface, little splashes to water pushes... Never hurts to blind cast in the channel up by the flats you may not see them but they are there.

I should be out there Saturday Morning i will know for sure later this week. If I am just come meet up with me ill show you how to use the electronics, rig for stripers and catch the shad. Which Lawrance system are you running exactly?

Not far enough huh! I was worried that I might need to get out and push the boat! I even pulled out the trolling motor because it was scrapping bottom. I was feets away from the cave you were talking about (I think)on the left bank.

Thank you very much for willing to help me out with the electronics and fishing in general. I have a Lowrance HDS-10 unit.

Not sure yet If I need to work Sat evening, but I'd love to see you catch a few big ones!!

Stump bumper:

If you don't mind fishing out of a fish and ski boat and also with someone new to the sport, let me know. I could always use some advice from good anglers.
