What are you getting all bent out of shape for???

I'm not getting bent out of shape. We are proud of our wild trout on this river (and will continue to be) and have the best natural reproduction of any river in the state by far. Because it has been 45 years since it has been stocked we now have our own strain of fish which have evolved to survive the habitat and conditions specific to the North Fork which is way cool. If some other fish make it into the river and they reproduce, only the ones with the traits that are useful on this river will survive, which can do nothing but improve the strain. I will continue to tell people that these are stream bred rainbows that haven't been stocked since the 60's, and if people want to disagree then they have the right.

Chief, drew took from the MDC link he provided that the MDC had been periodically stocking the NFOW with rainbows. They [MDC] haven't. Since 1966. That's all I was saying. I agree their are probably some hatchery rainbows getting into the river, but that's not MDC's doing.

Another subject we have to cover every-so-often.....

I'm not taking any offense here...and being called "bubba" actually makes me feel better about myself (it makes my 5'8" stature a little 'taller' in my own mind and I will take everything I can get ;) )

I usually don't say anything unless I can 100% back it up...and you can bet when I post a fish on here the number of inches I "actually" post are lower than what they really are--I learned my lesson years ago. But I would be willing to bet that Spring Creek produces more wild fish from our fish running up it (when they can, it is a barren wasteland with no water and has been that way for a couple of years now)to spawn than escapees actually making it to the NFOW.

You can equate stockers to the guys that fish the outlets at Taney....stockers get thrown in (especially rainbows as they are crazy-stupid) and they stay there. The outlet guys at Taney have only ever fished the outlets and when they go fishing it doesn't matter that there is a WHOLE river......they go to the outlets and fight each other http://ozarkanglers.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=30873 . I wouldn't give rainbows that much credit, stocker or not...they are stupid and like bright, shiny stuff. Have you ever seen the movie "Up"........SQUIRREL!!

I've always wondered about fish coming out of Cloud 9...Their website says they stocked 9,750lbs of fish over the course of 20 weekends this year. If you figure a pound a piece...that averages out to 487 fish per weekend..Thats not much considering that they have 600 RV sites. I'd bet that most dont last very long.

I've caught several tiny parr marked rainbows way up Spring Creek so they definately reproduce up there. If they didn't stock it, it could be a sweet little wild rainbow stream as well. Rubber and flash and rainbows are wide eyed with their tongues hanging out, that's why prism dub and wiggle dub are my best fishing friends.

I think we have been agreeing that point the whole time. :eyes-on-fire:

Permits are required to fish at Cloud 9 Ranch Club

Fish Stocking Schedule for 2011

April 22nd, Friday -- 750lbs

May 6th, Friday -- 750lbs

May 20th, Friday -- 750 lbs

May 27th, Friday -- 1,000 lbs

June 10th, Friday -- 750lbs

June 24th, Friday -- 750lbs

July 1st, Friday -- 1,000lbs

July 15th, Friday -- 750lbs

July 29th, Friday -- 750lbs

August 12th, Friday -- 750lbs

August 26th, Friday -- 750lbs

September 2rd, Friday -- 1,000lbs

Actually there are only 12 stocking dates. Which comes out to 812.5 per stocking. And I would be highly skeptical if even one person from all 600 sites fished. If all 600 sites were full.

Were using the same numbers Chief just different divisors...12 stockings in your case, 20 week season in mine...Regardless, it does tell a tale...

a) they run a put & take fishery.

B) it takes about 2 weeks to fish most of them out. :yaeh-am-not-durnk:

I'm not too worried about a bunch of them making it down to the North Fork.

I caught that after I posted. I reread you post and it stuck me what you were saying.

I really don't know how much pressure it gets. Who know's, maybe they host themselves a big trout fry once a month. :have-a-nice-day:

And no, like I said earlier, I doubt very many of them make it all the way down. But I am sure that some do. Not that you would be able to tell one from the other by then. :slow:

Honestly....I 'fib' on my height so much it makes up for me calling fish shorter than what I really think they are. ;) That evens itself out doesn't it?
