The last couple trips I had fished CC with very little luck so today I decided to take the wife north from CC a couple miles. The water was stained but not dingy like the bridge area was. We found the crappie on steep rocky banks. They started out around 5 ft deep in the morning and by noon were around 14'. Around 3 pm they started slowly moving back toward the bank. By the time we left at 5:30 they were back to 5' deep again. We wound up with 21 keeper crappie and one just legal walleye. The bite was slow and steady today but it was VERY light. Sometimes they would play with minnow for a couple minutes before they would take the slip bobber down. Had to be real patient. The bank we fished was really windy and with the light bite it was difficult to tell when you had a hit. Not complaining though it was better than we had done in a long time. I hope you all had a great weekend on the lake as well..

I registered here, about a year ago and finally remembered my password. WOO HOO!! I can give my fishing report now! We always fish CC and always troll minnows and throw a variety of plastics and jig heads, sounds like you guys did really good yesterday, we stayed about 5 hrs and left with 5 keepers (crappie). We go down every weekend oct. thru Nov.and in the spring. The past 3 weekends we have had to fish hard for what we were able to keep! We've been catching them from 2ft to 12ft. Looking forward to next weekend!!

Welcome back Time Killer. Hope you don't mind straw hat, but I'm gonna post my October 8th results here as well. You will feel like a far superior fisherman than I, which you should. I trolled crawler harnesses for several miles along the north bank of the little sac arm of the lake. One 17" walleye and an 11" crappie along with some really small bass. Fed a couple dozen crawlers to other little bass and gills as well. It was pretty windy, but a beautiful day on the lake. Unfortunately, the camp ground is gonna be closing at the end of the month. I'll probably only get down one more time to fish a half day or so and close up the camper. Where did the summer go?

Always good to hear from you walleyedmike! Sorry to hear about your poor trip, although Saturday was pretty good the last two trips before that were terrible. There should be alot of good fishing during the next 6 weeks or so, keep that camper down here and do some serious slaying of the walleye. As good as you are you can come up with several more limits with no problems. See you on the lake.

The camper will stay, the boat will come home. May try to hook up with a buddy or two for a couple of winter trips. Thanks for the pep talk Straw Hat!

WM, I couldn't key in on the eyes this trip . I only caught 2 shorts in 12 fow on chunk rock on a point.I did however, catch a 10lb flathead and lots of small mouth and big mouth bass on an orange 2" gulp grub on a 1/4 oz road runner head.

Now that makes me jealous. A 10lb flathead!! I sure would appreciate knowing what type of habitat you caught him in. My thanks for any info you can give.

Straw hat , I put in at RB ramp in Stockton the point to the left as you leave the cove in 11fow is where I marked fish on my Lowrance unit I thought there was a walleye on my line at first then figured out pretty quick by the fight it was a kitty. There is some chunk rock close by where I marked the fish- I reel my jigs very, very slow pausing ever so often to see if a fish will pick it up , hope this helps - I keep flathead and blues from time to time but threw this'en back to fight another day

Thanks Kwall. I would really like to figure out how to catch those flatheads more frequently. I kow they are very nocturnal but still if I can get a bait in front of there nose they will take it. I can usually hang 2 or 3 in a summer (the easiest time to catch them) but the fall pattern eludes me. Info like this helps. Thanks again

Straw hat , I've caught three total this year the other two came off a flat in late May while I

was dragg'in a worm harness tryin' for those Walleyes. Years ago I handfished for them in an Oklahoma creek with my uncles and cousins near where I live, it wasn't uncommon to bring home a couple of 15 to 20lb ers'

Now that was young fun, some great family memories :)
