Members Nathanael Posted October 14, 2011 Members Posted October 14, 2011 Hey guys, Im coming out there next week fishin and just wondered if anyone has been throwing egg patterns yet. I know the browns should start moving up and staging to spawn pretty soon. Even if egg patterns aren't the fly choice yet lets hear some reports. No specific spots wanted to anything just curious about the whole river.
On The Fly 6 Posted October 14, 2011 Posted October 14, 2011 Hey guys, Im coming out there next week fishin and just wondered if anyone has been throwing egg patterns yet. I know the browns should start moving up and staging to spawn pretty soon. Even if egg patterns aren't the fly choice yet lets hear some reports. No specific spots wanted to anything just curious about the whole river. I always have egg patterns with me no matter where I fish, as trout will take them all year. Id probably have some small midges too. Size 16-20 in various colors. I usually do well with burnt orange w/ red wire, and a simple red zebra. Its been about a month since ive been below Beaver, but midges always produce at least some fish. Once the temperature stays a steady temperature the fishing should pick up. Good luck! Ham Posted October 14, 2011 Posted October 14, 2011 I try egg patterns October thru March. I haven't used my flyrod for trout lately, but if and when I get to wade again, I'll give egg patterns a try. I tend to start with a Y2K. Every Saint has a past, every Sinner has a future.
