New Spillway Overlook Planned

I read a blurb about a planned 72 foot walkway and overlook at the spillway.

Do I get to name that too?

I threw away the magazine after I read it. Actually recycled it.

They are taking donations for the project. I can't remember but it was something like a $1 donation per tag sold. Or you could donate $1000 and get a framed and signed duck stamp for 2012.

They pretty much are moving the focus of the park away from true fishermen to visitors and lawn chair fishing. It seems that way to me.

They will not be happy till the whole place looks like a city park and everyone can stand from the bank and chuck powerbait. I think sometimes they are trying to drive away people that have enjoyed this place throughout the years. We still have Montauk and the blue ribbon areas left but I'm afraid if they had it their way those places would look like a trout park does now.

This might be the one time I think the project will look better than what is currently there ...at least in my humble opinion.

Pete, it is working out great. I overloaded a six weight and the line has worked great for casting a few bigger flies for the smallies. I'll return the favor one day i am sure.
