Members PSUWill Posted November 5, 2011 Members Posted November 5, 2011 Anyone else been catching crappie at Truman? I have been to osage for the past 4 of 5 weekends with a co-worker and we have been walking out with our limits of crappie in a matter of hours. Fish are anywhere from 9"-14" hitting about anything thrown at them. Last trip I even managed a little spoonbill somehow. Pretty excited being it was my first. All of this done off the bank.
junkman Posted November 6, 2011 Posted November 6, 2011 Thanks for the post. Looks like you have been doing good. but as well thanks for posting anything here. It seems to me people try to keep Truman a secret or something. for I know it is fished more then the posts show. I myself just love Truman. Wish I could find the time to make another trip over there this year.
redbird Posted November 7, 2011 Posted November 7, 2011 I dont know what you are talking about! Its no secret, the fishing is never any good at Truman. Im not a Cardinals fan, but I am a Cardinal. If you know me you know what that means.
junkman Posted November 7, 2011 Posted November 7, 2011 It definitely isn't any good for musky, pike, shark and tarpon to name a few but there are a few species that seem prolific in those waters. Or maybe it isn't a secret but just a myth. Could be that Nessy the lockness monster keeps them thinned out.
Members PSUWill Posted November 13, 2011 Author Members Posted November 13, 2011 Put on some orange and limited out on Crappie up near Clinton today. Lot's of shooting going on. I can shrug off when I hear a gun shoot 1 or 2 times being they should have a target. However a few times there was lots of shooting, I can only think someones blindly shooting into cover trying to get the deer moving. Uncool.
junkman Posted November 13, 2011 Posted November 13, 2011 Probably the problem was the opposite. It was probably that the deer was running and they just unloaded just trying to get a kill. could even be that it didn't go down so they keep shooting. Seen a guy pump seven rounds into one thinking he had missed. All he had left was hamburger.

I posted on another forum how I heard A LOT of rapid gunfire. Way too fast for any but the first shot to be aimed at all. Some people don't deserve to hunt. Every laydown seemed to have a big school of crappie, here is a video that I recorded to show what the action was like. When it died I simply went to the next laydown. Before I set the camera up I had already caught 7 or 8 of this log. Caught lots of keepers from this area but my bigger fish came from elsewhere. I am sure a little more work and the bigger ones will show up. I fished black/yellow, white, black/pink, and chartreuse jigs 10"-15" under a cork to prevent snagging the tree. The color didn't matter they were ready to eat. Add in some awesome weather, 75 degrees when I left. Unfortunately 40 degrees when I pulled into the drive in KC. The water was muddy. All in all would say I had 100 fish up to 13.5", to bad the limits 15. 6 weekends of limits in a row, the fish must be ready for KS rifle season to start up http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?v=605344328755
