David Unnerstall Posted January 25, 2012 Posted January 25, 2012 Jackie Blue, actually, is on the second album: “It Will Shine When It Shines.” But Beauty On The River is on the first album – that could be our theme song around here. I have the first five albums and the 1997 reunion CD “13” and listened to all of them the last two nights (it is January, you know). It is difficult to recommend one album. The same formula was used for all of them. You can't go wrong with any of them. I listen to KSHE-Two quite often. KSHE-Two is a station programmed by Radio Rich Dalton (a dude from the neighborhood up here.) He popped in on the station the other day and said that the fact that White Rabbit was the first song played on KSHE in ’67 is in dispute he said that he knows for a fact that the first song played on KSHE-Two was the OMD’s Standing On The Rock. This is all I have to offer this forum because I can’t catch fish worth a “frick.”
podum Posted January 26, 2012 Posted January 26, 2012 Thanks for the info I wish I had more time more than I wish I had more money.
Mark Posted January 26, 2012 Author Posted January 26, 2012 Where is KSHE - TWO on the radio dial?? I'm a regular KSHE listener and never heard of it. Glad to see there are LOTs of Ozark Mountain Daredevil fans on here. Standing on the Rock is the greatest bluegrass song ever written. And I second the motion to make Beauty in the River the theme song of Ozark Anglers Forum.
David Unnerstall Posted January 26, 2012 Posted January 26, 2012 You need a High-Definition radio. An HD radio gives us two things: A digital signal and access to more stations. Almost all FM stations have additional stations. KSHE-Two is programmed by Radio Rich and has no commercials.
Mark Posted January 27, 2012 Author Posted January 27, 2012 Thanks I wasn't aware of any of that info - of course being on Ozark Anglers Forum is hi tech for me!!!
2sheds Posted January 27, 2012 Posted January 27, 2012 One more vote that, hands down, the self-titled 1973 "OMD" is the best introduction - the harp break in "Wanta Get to Heaven" is hard to beat. We always called this "The Quilt Album" due to the cover. For the estoteric OMD fans, I also recommend the "Lost cabin Sessions" which are some very early recordings and alternate takes, but not released until the oghts
snap Posted February 3, 2012 Posted February 3, 2012 "The quilt album" is loaded with great songs.....IMO...their best also!!!! "Beauty in the River" has that special twang ...picks up momentum as it goes...chicken train (simple and fun) standin on a rock, country girl, if u want to get to heaven,.....(.is a great harp song)!!!..my favorite is Black Sky, also has a cool harp intro and great lyrics......as in "its everything you do and nothing that you did"....
2sheds Posted February 9, 2012 Posted February 9, 2012 Brewer & Shipley's version of Black Sky is also killer-bee. Steve Cash (OMD) reprised the harp solo and did another for Ballad of a Country Dog..
Mark Posted February 10, 2012 Author Posted February 10, 2012 Learn something new every day. I didn't know Brewer and Shipley did a version of Black Sky. ALthough prolly not as good as me, One Sandal, and Snappy's version
