Wayne SW/MO Posted December 5, 2011 Posted December 5, 2011 Once again the human element ignores the fans and sets up what they think they missed earlier. Apparently the sports writers and coaches still want to know who is better LSU or Alabama. I wonder if they realize there won't be a best 2 out of 3? Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.
Gilly Posted December 5, 2011 Posted December 5, 2011 I read where the SEC will reap 30 million+ off of this game. www.drydock516.com
Feathers and Fins Posted December 5, 2011 Posted December 5, 2011 Drop the "C" from BCS and you have what it really is!! Seriously think about this. --Rose Bowl presented by VIZIO, Jan. 2, Pasadena, Calif., 5 p.m.: #5 Oregon vs #10 Wisconsin --Tostitos Fiesta Bowl, Jan. 2, Glendale, Ariz., 8:30 p.m.: # 3 Oklahoma State vs. #4 Stanford --Allstate Sugar Bowl, Jan. 3, New Orleans, La., 8:30 p.m.: # 13 Michigan vs. #11 Virginia Tech --Discover Orange Bowl, Jan. 4, Miami, Fla., 8:30 p.m.: # 15 Clemson vs. #23 West Virginia --Allstate BCS National Championship Game, Jan. 9, New Orleans, La., 8:30 p.m.: #2 Alabama vs.#1 Louisiana State 10 bowl games should go to the top 10 teams. There are 4 teams in the top 10 who do not get a BCS Bowl game. Kinda makes it stupid to play for a BCS bowl be in the top 10 and be denied a Game because of a stupid rule. Arkansas, Boise State, Kansas State and South Carolina all got screwed. Loose the BCS and go to a play-off. Computers and Voters should never decide anything and a Bowl Series that disallows any top 10 team in it when there are 5 games is BS which remove the C from BCS and you got what it is. Seriously #23 gets in! What a fricken joke. I love College football but hate the BCS. Just think what a mess we would have had, had USC been able to be elligable for a bowl. And even worse. When you look at the records we have Alabama 11- 1 Stanford 11 -1 Boise 11- 1 Houston 12 -1 Oklahoma 11-1 Tell me which of those teams really is #2 and should face the Undefeated LSU team? Polls and computers aside I see 5 teams with records on the field of wins that all have a good reason to be facing LSU. I am an SEC fan and question who really is the most worthy to go. I hate the BCS because it doesn’t give us a true Champion. Show me another major sport where there is no playoff to decide who is #1, I cant think of any off my head. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Beaver-Lake-Arkansas-Fishing-Report/745541178798856
stlfisher Posted December 5, 2011 Posted December 5, 2011 Even though I think Alabama is better than Oklahoma State they already had their chance and lost. A plus one would have been ideal in this situation. LSU vs. Stanford and Bama vs. Oklahoma State. Shoot you wouldn't even have to play the plus one every year...just on years like this when there is no clear cut #2 team.
KCRIVERRAT Posted December 5, 2011 Posted December 5, 2011 Boise State's kicker missed a 39 yard field goal as time expired against TCU. Otherwise they'd be 12-0 (again) and deserve a shot to play LSU (in my mind) but that loss was what allowed the powers that be to dismiss them once again. That game was @ TCU too. But... if they had won would they have played LSU if they were #2 in the coaches and Harris (computer) poll? The AP poll (writers) doesn't count in the formulas. I doubt it. This system sucks... computers! (jeez) Anyhow... MIZ-ZOU! Beat Carolina! HUMAN RELATIONS MANAGER @ OZARK FISHING EXPEDITIONS
Al Agnew Posted December 6, 2011 Posted December 6, 2011 It's all about money. The bowls want the teams that will draw the most people, not the teams that deserve it by their record on the field. Add to that the stranglehold the big conferences have on the bowls, and it becomes a joke. You'll never see anything like what you've seen in basketball with mid-majors making the Final Four. It really is tough to figure out a play-off system that would work, though. There are something like 35 bowls. You'd have to run a 32 team play-off in order to slot the play-off games into existing bowls, and that would still miss a few. Problem with that, of course, is that the national championship would be the fifth play-off game for the two teams. Five play-off games after the current number of regular season games is a lot of games for a college team to play. But think of how much more interest there would be with the #32 team playing the #1 team in the first round in something like the Independence Bowl in a game that actually means something, rather than two unranked teams playing a meaningless consolation game.
Flysmallie Posted December 6, 2011 Posted December 6, 2011 Even though I think Alabama is better than Oklahoma State they already had their chance and lost. Alabama played 2 teams in the top 25, OSU Played 6. OSU is the better team hands down. They are the clear cut # 2. But the BCS is a scam, always has been, always will be. Â Â
