Brian Wise Posted December 13, 2011 Posted December 13, 2011 Hey guys, Again, getting ready to drop this pattern on my site but thought I would give you guys a peak at it first. Rear Hook: Mustad 34011 #4 Thread: Black Undertail: Marabou Body: Estaz Overtail/Body: Rabbit Zonker Articulation: Beadalon Spacers: Glass Beads Lead Hook: Gamakatsu B10s Eyes: Painted Lead Eyes (attached to the UNDER side of the hook) Body: Estaz Gills: Lazer Dub Head: Wool I have substitued Lazer Dub for the wool on the head.....it gives a really cool look, and trims to shape just like wool does. I doubt it would move quite as much water as wool but if you are looking to add more flash to the head Lazer Dub is a good way to go. My Youtube Channel
Gavin Posted December 13, 2011 Posted December 13, 2011 Nice Video! I think you got the speed changes just right!

Kayser Posted December 13, 2011 Posted December 13, 2011 I have been making these way too complicated, and with not enough wool... Also, just curious what size hook you're using for the lead hook. Or what size trailer you would use for a #4 lead. WARNING!! Comments to be interpreted at own risk. Time spent fishing is never wasted.
Justin Spencer Posted December 13, 2011 Posted December 13, 2011 Nice but I think you should incorporate some of that beard hair into the head (give it that personal touch). Brian Wise Posted December 14, 2011 Author Posted December 14, 2011 I have been making these way too complicated, and with not enough wool... Also, just curious what size hook you're using for the lead hook. Or what size trailer you would use for a #4 lead. That was a #2 Gamakatsu B10s. The Butt Monkey is crazy easy. I personally don't think I trimmed the head on that one 'quite' enough but it worked. Depending on the type of #4 hook you are using I would probably stick to another #4 for the back if you are really wanting to use a #4. I would probably suggest going a little bigger on the lead hook though. Seriously, I have caught young of the year rainbows (around 5") on the North Fork of the White on a #2 B10s or that TMC 8089....they will hook all sizes of fish. Nice but I think you should incorporate some of that beard hair into the head (give it that personal touch). I meant to say that wool has a pretty personal NFOW touch already Justin.....that is Amy Spencer Special North Fork of the White Sunburst Wool, which I am sure can be found at the Dead Drift Fly Shop at Sunburst. (and if it isn't available, tell Amy it needs to be!) My Youtube Channel
Justin Spencer Posted December 14, 2011 Posted December 14, 2011 .....that is Amy Spencer Special North Fork of the White Sunburst Wool, which I am sure can be found at the Dead Drift Fly Shop at Sunburst. (and if it isn't available, tell Amy it needs to be!) Very nice. Easy to come by around here, as well as Mohair from our angora goats (Amy's been working on a cool mohair yarn with some ice dub in it, and llama hair as well. Bring a pair of scissors and pick your color, just be careful I took a leaping ram to the face the other day while catching him, broke my favorite Native sunglasses, and I have a nice ugly scab on my face and ear, which sure hurts with the ladies! Brian Wise Posted December 14, 2011 Author Posted December 14, 2011 It's actually really good stuff, a little thicker and more course than fly shop wool.....I'm just saying, think of the markup and marketing opportunities of Sunburst wool. My Youtube Channel
