duckydoty Posted December 29, 2011 Posted December 29, 2011 Hunted with a buddy today at Four Rivers and had a great time. We drew the last pill to pick a pool, so we got the left overs. There was no one else hunting in pool 6 so we went chose that one so we would have the opportunity to move around if we wanted. Having never hunted pool 6, we just went in till we found some open water and threw out 18 decoys knowing we would be moving as soon as we found out what the birds wanted. When it got to be shooting time, we found out that we had absolutely no cover and stuck out like sore thumbs. We did manage to get one green head and a snow out of a group of about 2000. We were picking up and moving by 8 a.m. We went to the back of the pool where there was some flooded corn and jumped a couple of hundred mallards. Decided to set up there. We put out 6 dozen duck decoys and 18 goose decoys. The corn was pretty sparse so we put a camo tarp over the boat, layed down in it, and covered ourselves with smaller camo tarps. That was the trick. As soon as we got set up, the ducks were coming in. Ended up getting 2 limits of mallards plus the snow by 1 p.m. Four Rivers is holding 93,000 ducks right now. If you can figure out a way to hide, you can bust some ducks. A Little Rain Won't Hurt Them Fish.....They're Already Wet!! Visit my website at.. Ozark Trout Runners
