abkeenan Posted January 5, 2012 Posted January 5, 2012 What are you guys using? I have always just thrown a kalins grub on a 1/4oz darter jighead but would like to try something else for variety. Opinions?

Opinions? Reaction Innovations Little Dippers. Color depends on where I'm fishing and conditions. Also Zoom Swimmin Super Fluke. Some times on jig heads, some times with bullet weights and sometimes weightless, just depends on time of year and conditions.
Jacob W Posted January 6, 2012 Posted January 6, 2012 Swimming a grub is hard to beat, especially on deep clear lakes like T.R.
emjay Posted January 6, 2012 Posted January 6, 2012 Lake Fork Magic Shads work well under certain conditions.
balsabee Posted January 6, 2012 Posted January 6, 2012 I throw a 4" Kinami single tail grub in a shad color. The little gold flake in it seems to work really well.
Iclass Posted January 6, 2012 Posted January 6, 2012 Hard to beat a Fluke for me. Baitfish, Albino shad, Smokey shad, Arkansas shad seem to work well. Have also C-rigged watermelon chartreuse tail, might work on jighead too... I just hate using Sissy Spinning Sticks tho. Probably why I get my tail kicked so often up here too.
Members Don P Posted January 6, 2012 Members Posted January 6, 2012 I haven't tried them on Tablerock yet but the 3" Big Hammer swimbaits on a 1/4 or 3/8oz shad head are my new favorite. Work best on grass points and flats that drop into deeper water but I have caught fish in 25-30 water on them. Just cast them out and reel them back in nice and slow and hold your rod tight because the smallmouth will take the rod out of your hands when they hit it. Basic shad colors work best but if the water has any color at all I will use a dye pen to add some chartreuse accents to the sides and paddle tail.
dtrs5kprs Posted January 12, 2012 Posted January 12, 2012 4" and 5" Storm and Berkley swimbaits with the molded in heads were good to me in the post spawn last year. K's and brownies had trouble eating them, but the good blacks did not. Have not done well with the hollow body baits at TR so far.
