Members Fly Fishing Fantasma Posted January 11, 2012 Members Posted January 11, 2012 Hello everyone! I have really enjoyed finding this site and reading all the posts. I've been fishing since I was a child and it is now a "healthy sickness" for me. My wife may not agree and with my first baby on the way I am getting while the getting is good. A coworker and I are planning a winter trip to roaring river and to bennet over a few days the last weekend of C & R. This will be our first trip during catch and release season and look forward to doing some hog hunting. I have been wanting to try the winter for a while and am excited. I've been fishing at RR since I was 8 and was rewarded with my 1st beer when I finally caught my first fish on fly when I was 12 or so. My bachelor party this past year was on the river, winning easily over the other option of a night out at the bars. I had to wonder if I was just getting old, or a true fishing addict...either way I would not have had as much fun anywhere else. Just saying hello and looking forward to the trip Best Fishes Lou
Buzz Posted January 12, 2012 Posted January 12, 2012 Welcome to the forum. Be sure to post a report with plenty of pics. If fishing was easy it would be called catching.
mic Posted January 12, 2012 Posted January 12, 2012 Welcome...and agree regular reports from RR would be a nice break from work and those of us from St. Louis.
Members Fly Fishing Fantasma Posted January 12, 2012 Author Members Posted January 12, 2012 Thanks guys! I will definately do that. I usually only get down there once or twice a year since I live north of KC and enjoy lots of other fishing as well. My personal best rainbow is 3.25 that I caught as a kid and look forward to trying to beat that this winter. Why is it that so many more big fish are caught during c&r? Is it because there is so much less pressure? More big fish?

Bssp and meremac, not so much, you will normally just find hold over fish at these 2 parks. This is a way for mdc to get rid of their unproductive brood stock and allow us "park rats" to have some fun. I have no doubt that you will top your old record, it is good to set goals for yourself. I have done that very thing for years.
Members Fly Fishing Fantasma Posted January 13, 2012 Author Members Posted January 13, 2012 Thanks Laker, I sure hope so. All the big trout pics from RR I see the majority are in the winter time. I just hope the weather holds up good for us. I am hoping to get into some SM at Bssp.
