On Table Rock where do the Kings River, and James River & White River begin & end ? Just asking for reference.. I hear someone say, "we went up the James river" or "we have a place on Kings river" ...

Thanks...

In terms of coming at them from the lake (not geographically) I guess they begin when you run up the mouth of the river, or where the river flows into the main channel of the White. Kings = up and around from the SK bridge, James at Point 9.

Hear a lot of people say up the White and have it mean different things...under the 13 bridge going upriver, or around Baxter, or even under the SK bridge and past the Kings. That one is harder to define I guess. For me I think of it starting when you get past Point 9 and the James, running up the White towards Baxter. Hope that helps.

I MAY understand it when I give it more thought & look at a map.. Thanks for the explaination...

Billfo...that is one of the reasons I always try to refer to areas vs. rivers, as in "we were around Baxter" or "a mile or so either way of 13". Still lets you be vague about the exact spot while helping folks out a little. You see tmt reports or talk to folks who say they were "up the White" and that could mean about 40 miles of river, and might very well if they were running a lot between stops.

When you get into the White and the James those distinctions make a big difference because the water varies so much from the mouth to the backs of the rivers, in terms of clarity and temps. Kings is a little less that way, but can still have big changes in depths and clarity over the fewer miles it runs.

For me the end of the rivers is where one dumps into another like where James and White join. From there on down I consider it White River. Since I am a lake fisherman instead of river, the beginning for me is where the lake boundaries and regs end and the river rules take over for length limits, though I rarely run my rig anywhere near those lines.

I always considered it the White upstream of any MAJOR tributaries, so upstream of point 22 (Mouth of the Kings). The water quality and temperature usually change upstream of Kings confluence because there are no major tribs other than Beaver tailwater and Roaring River (both cold and clear).

I sit on the true upper end. Eagle Rock is six or seven miles down stream and Houseman is about the same upriver. The 62 bridge is just around the bend from there. Unless you are in a river boat, you really can't go above there. From here to the dam is about 60 river miles following the channel.

I've always assumed they meant the old watershed boundary under them. If you make a turn south in the dam area and boat over the old Long creek channel you would then be in Long creek.

Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.

Ok all this is starting to make some sence now. Thank you all for your input !!

Just a quick tip that might save somebody some grief: IF you have a White River Border Lakes permit on your fishing license, you can go as far as you CAN go up the Kings River.... No problem....On the White River, your border lakes permit STOPS working at the downstream border of the Trophy Trout Area below Beaver Dam, which is also called Housemann, since there is a small ramp there, near Busch, Ar., called the Housemann Access. If you venture upstream from Housemann, you'll need an Arkansas fishing license.....

You can also go as far as you want UP Long Creek...And, of course, the James River since its goes north, farther into Missouri....

Good fishing guys !!
