I think that's the one on highway 94 pretty close to where you turn on highway D towards the Bush CA main entrance. Shortly before it if you're coming from highway 40.

That Paddlefish at Unger, how long ago was that? I saw a dead one a few weeks ago when they had those 2-3 days of warm weather and the ice finally melted. I didn't think there would be another one of those in there, as rare as they seem to be.

And, as far as the Weldon Lakes go, are they really closed until late April, or can you go fish them these days? Thought I read something about one more season of some type of waterfowl hunting going on until then, and that fishing was prohibited in the meantime.

Two weeks ago (give or take). I wouldn't be surprised if it were the same one when I tried releasing him he didn't go far. Unger still had some iced over water in spots. Its sad, he was a hell of a good looking fish.

Funny, I hadn't noticed any signs of hooks in there when I saw it, then again I wasn't really looking for those signs either. About how long was the one you got with the paddle included? And what part of the shore did this happen at?

I thought this one had died from the rough winter, as I saw a bunch of asian carp and some shad and stuff all dead along different sections of the shoreline. Figured the same counted for it too.

Caught him with a single hook soft body minnow right on the tip of the bill.. Maybe Four feet? Right when you cross over the part that takes in the flooding from the Meramac.

Tons of luck at Lake Mallard - most bass are between 10-13 but a handful of 4lb+ (never did very well on Creve Ceour), some nice bass at Simpson, caught a huge paddlefish out of Unger the other day (snagged on a soft body minnow jig) but to the reason why I am actually writing - Where is Fire Lake? I wanna get out tomorrow and looking to try some new things.

Mallard eh? I've never seen much of anything out there when I've fished except for carp and gar. I think I've only ever caught one smallish bass and a nice sized crappie there before.

The bass in my picture was taken from Mallard. At the end of summer when I went out in the morning's I was hot on bluegill as well. Hadn't caught a single one until about July though. Never caught a crappie there.

Yep size-wise sounds like the one I saw. About 4 feet with the paddle. I saw it on the shore between the little penninsula just before where the boat ramp used to be (I think that's the same part, cause I know that's where it floods first), and the regular shoreline a little closer towards the parking lot closest to the lake. Sucks, but it happens. I seriously had thought it had died from the lake being ice covered for a long time, cause I saw a bunch of other plankton feeders belly up around the lake too. I'm pretty sure a good chunk of those died from the harsh winter. I bet that was quite a struggle when you snagged that bad boy. What strength line did you have to bring it in with?

I didn't witness or see any pics, but a friend of mine said he caught a bunch of small bass at Prairie Lake last Sunday evening. Said he was throwing small lipped crankbaits and spinnerbaits, retrieving very slow. He said all were caught on the dam area of the lake. Nothing over 13"

He fished Fire Lake earlier in the day, said he caught 1 small bass. And was down at Howell Island access and caught a drum and a white bass.

He has caught a lot of white bass down at Howell Island, but not lately. He says its better when the water is way up.

CORRECTION!!!!

He caught a bunch of small bass on Lake 33 inside Busch WA, NOT Prairie Lake! He did fish Prairle Lake, but said he got skunked, but didn't fish it very long.

I stopped by yesterday at those lakes to look them over, before making my way to Bush, and I saw one guy fishing fire lake, and a couple on Prairie Lake. All were kind of far from me so I didn't bother asking them if they had any luck. Both lakes look like they got some potential. And for a lake of it's size Fire lake seems to have some seriously nice structure in it. Anyone know if the MDC stocks these as frequently as the Bush lakes?
