Smbasser, I agree with you. I think the rig is a great way to get more people into and enjoying the recreational side of fishing. I thought the playing field was level before with one guy and one lure. Guys who do well in tournys do so for a reason. They spend more time on the water and have years of knowledge and tons of money invested in finding there fish while others struggle. Just b/c it is a legal way to fish does not mean it belongs in tournys. Live bait and trolling lures are legal but like the A-rig take alot of the skill out of catching fish. For those of you who do not fish tournys I am not sure why you care either way. If the tournament anglers did not fish the rig that is more easy ones for you. Just my opinion.

So what's the difference between an a-rig with only one hook and a spinner with multiple blades?

put one bait and four blades around it and yes, it's similar. An alabama rig is like a double bladed buzzbait? one bait, multiple blades.... i don't think so. blades are more for attraction, vibration and flash. Like i said earlier, your either for it or against it. I will be the first to throw it when I go out with a family member or take someone fishing but I don't believe it belongs in tournaments. fish can become conditioned to a single bait and thus it takes skill and luck to get fish to bite. How many times has a fish in our ozark lakes ran thru a school of baitfish and felt the steel of a hook?

Of course it's two baits and If i'm against the A-rig i kinda have to be against a double fluke....i've never thrown it so no opinions on it. I will say that this rig has done a lot for fishing and made the "swimbait" companies busier than hell right now trying to keep up with demand, i've never seen anything like it. If it's gonna be allowed at least it's easy to decide what baits to bring to tournaments, really gonna cut down on tackle in the boat, hell i'll go faster too

Since the rig has come out everybody and their dog with half a brain has tried it.... If you dont think the fish are getting used to seeing it you are blinded by your own arrogance/ignorance. When the FLW boys were throwing it, it may have been just throw it and they jump in the boat. But in just a few short months it's becoming a challenge. Does it still out fish other methods? Sometimes, but not as much as it did 3-4 months ago. I fish tournaments too, fished at a very high level for a short time. It's not about leveling the playing field at ANY level, don't understand that argument. If you want level, fish out of same boat with same equipment as everybody else. Have check in and out for practice, everyone has to practice. Nothing about any competition is level, thats why we have winners and whinners....

Double fluke is two flukes tied to 3way swivel with 2lines coming off and a fluke attached to each line. Multiple bait in my opinion.
