Just wanted to say hello. Primarily a small creek and river fisherman but I do my fair share of river fishing and farm ponds. By far my favorite fishing is when I can get to southern Mo or ark to get after some trout. Home waters I mostly target. Smallies and walleye. Just started seriously fly fishing this last summer so expect some pretty ridiculous questions on the topic.

Fish always lose by being "got in and dressed." It is best to weigh them while they are in the water. The only really large one I ever caught got away with my leader when I first struck him. He weighed ten pounds.

Thanks man, last fall i was using Wolly Buggers and Clousers almost exclusively for smallies and doing pretty well, ready for the winter to let up.

Welcome, another creek fan here.

Hello fellow creek addict. With the partiers swarming over the mid size streams and the recreational powerboats roaring up and down the larger streams it seems like creeks are the only place to find peace and quiet. I’m looking forward to some of your creek reports. Rest assured the only dumb question about fly fishing is the one never asked, ask away.

So wrong brother....fishing is fishing. Post and tell all. You can even stretch the truth every once in a while.

I remember hearing stories about big smallmouth in the Elk Fork. Do you know if it is accessible or floatable? The lower Salt below the re-regulation dam has always been on my long list of destinations.

lol i will have to keep that in mind.

About the elks fork i actually dont know, ill have to make it one of my summer goals and let you know. The salt below the rereg is one of my favorite rivers around. We float it for smallies and walleyes and alot of its tributary creeks are really fun to wade in the summer.

The corps of engineers has had the actual rereg dam rec area closed for years now working to repair since the 08 flood but when its open it has some excellent fishing for many species. me and a small group of fisherman have been calling weekly to check on the status (and maybe to annoy them a little)

Yea, annoy them a little for me. I fished a couple of lakes up your way years ago, La belle and Ewing. I had a buddy who told stories of catching huge bass night fishing at La Belle, never did find one myself. Do you know about any good bluegill lakes in that area?
