Andrew324 Posted January 19, 2012 Posted January 19, 2012 I've been to Capps a few occassions, but I wasn't all too impressed (because it was summertime). I'm thinking of trying it in a few days. Anyone fished it lately? Or have all the put-and-take dudes cleaned house? I would do the usual nymph setup, but might also throw some streamers for a brown. Buzz Posted January 20, 2012 Posted January 20, 2012 Take the road less travelled and you will be rewarded. Exactly. I haven't fished Capps for a couple of weeks, but I did pretty good fishing upstream from the lower access. Ollie has probably been there more recently. If fishing was easy it would be called catching.
ollie Posted January 20, 2012 Posted January 20, 2012 Yea, most stockers have been cleaned out. Under the bridge upstream you can scout it out and there's not much to see. Very clear water and they are spooky. Although I have always caught a couple down below the mill dam most of the time. I will probably go on Sunday at least in the morning. I wouldn't count on numbers that's for sure. Do some walking from the access and look for deeper runs. I really haven't had that great success in the last few weeks there. Just me I guess. Andrew324 Posted January 20, 2012 Author Posted January 20, 2012 Thanks for the reply fellas. I will probably try it out Sunday morning if not bypassing it for Roaring River. Looking to get away from Crane for the time being, and its getting a little too cold to night fish Taney for me. ollie Posted January 20, 2012 Posted January 20, 2012 If I go Andrew look for a s-10 with a white door on blue body. That's my POS! We can hook-up. Andrew324 Posted January 30, 2012 Author Posted January 30, 2012 I fished upstream from the lower access today for a few hours. Spent the morning at Roaring River and it was windy, the bite was tough, so I decided to kill some time. Didn't do very well. Only had a few takes. Saw a few guys who were catching them on spinning rigs. I fished streamers swung through holes and deep runs for browns but got skunked. Pretty stream in the winter. I wonder if Capps would be better if they upped the status or something. Andrew Nelson Outdoor Adventures Graduate Assistant Campus Recreation Missouri State University
Members burninworm Posted January 31, 2012 Members Posted January 31, 2012 I've fished it twice the past couple weeks, been really slow. Only managed a couple of fish each trip with one being a decent 1-2 lb brown. I fished pretty hard both times and covered nearly all the public land. It is really beautiful in the winter.
Members Tommy Neil Posted February 6, 2012 Members Posted February 6, 2012 I have fished it 4 times in the last week and not caught anything. Nothing not even a bite, using powerball eggs, San Juan worms, glow balls,
