Members booger90 Posted January 21, 2012 Members Posted January 21, 2012 I was wondering what lures would work best. I thought about doing the bfl tournament next month.
Fishrman Posted January 21, 2012 Posted January 21, 2012 What part of net month? Fished a BFL several years ago in early March, finished 5th with a jerk bait. Guy that won it threw a wart. Really depends on weather. Better have a grub handy. Now just so you know, I feel as if I am an average fisherman, but have fished the Rock a lot. Good luck to you.
RSBreth Posted January 21, 2012 Posted January 21, 2012 I was wondering what lures would work best. I thought about doing the bfl tournament next month. You mean March 10th? That's the BFL tourney up for 2012. I'd really think suspending Jerk, grub, finesse jig, shaky head, smaller swimbaits or.... with a big warm rain, crankbait and spinnerbait, or some combo of all of them. I was thinking about fishing it, too.
Members Ozark Outdoorsman Posted January 22, 2012 Members Posted January 22, 2012 I havnt fished for a week, but what I found was fish are not on a full "winter" pattern due to the up and down weather we have had. I have found a few on a Spoon, and several on a Jerk Bait. I do no know what the water temp is this week howeverm but I will be on the lake next week in full force.

If you look at archived reports, you'll probably see sticks, warts, grubs as the check cashers that time of year. Somebody is always catching some on a jig and grub also. You don't need a lot of baits to catch fish on this lake.
Sore Thumbs Posted January 22, 2012 Posted January 22, 2012 I would be throwing the A-rig until it gets banned. A school of shad works year round. Simple and catches fish. If they do get banned a jerkbait, wart and a smoke grub are tough to beat. Good luck. I hope to be able to fish that one too.
