I just bought a place at LOZ. I love to bass fish. I have only fished LOZ once. My place is on the big Niangua, 13 miles to be exact. Please respond with best lures to use. We will be in by early March.

Thanks,

David

You'll be here in time for the suspending jerkbait bite, and when that starts to peter out the crawdad crankbait/jig bite will take front seat.

Steep South facing banks in March, then more gentle sloping gravel/chunk mix banks as April nears.

Pay particular attention to spots where you catch keeper fish and search out similar spots elsewhere.

Good luck, and Welcome to The Lake :)

Most years the water level is very low in March. How close are you to the 54 bridge? I imagine pretty close. It can get really shallow out there and surprise you.

Also there some years and times when the water can be very muddy up there. Don't bother fishing cold muddy water. It's a big enough lake you can find deeper, clear water elsewhere.

I am a long cast to the bridge. My place is at Cedar Heights. I probably will not get to fish until late April. We only have one slip and we will have a ski boat in it. I am looking for a slip to rent for the bass boat.

Thanks,

David

I'd focus the Alabama Rig obviously as a starter and go from there. If you are like others who refuse to throw this bait then in March I'd go with the Wiggle wort and Jig. The Rogue bite will not be so strong with the lack of a shad kill.

I would figure out were larry gale is and get that boat wet. loz is gonna be starting to get super busy by late april and by memorial day its pretty much weekdays and nighttime is when you can get out. The fishing is good from dam to dam year round and the niangua will be some of the first water to warm.

I might be able to help with boat slip. I have an extra slip at cedar heights. I am currently in China but will be home for a couple of weeks around the first of march. Send me a pm if you haven't found a solution by then. My slip has a 4k lift in it and set empty for the last year.
