Guest csfishinfool Posted January 24, 2012 Posted January 24, 2012 THIS PETITION IS FOR THE BAN OF THE A-RIG IN TOURNAMENT COMPETITION Here is a link to the petition. http://www.gopetitio...-the-a-rig.html Umbrella rigs, such as the Alabama Rig, are considered illegal in many states. They are not considered a single lure tied to a line, but multiple lures and/or hooks. An umbrella rig is defined as an array of more than three artificial lures or baits (with or without hooks) used by a single rod and reel combination. The use of this rig compromises the integrity of professional bass fishing and creates many other possible negative issues for the sport down the road.

In Missouri you can only use 3 hooks on one, in other states more. I personally don't see what the big deal is, why is it so wrong? "Honor is a man's gift to himself" Rob Roy McGregor

Feathers and Fins Posted January 24, 2012 Posted January 24, 2012 This peitition IMO is stupid and may lead to other restriction! The umbrella and other multi-lure rigs have been used for years in sport-fishing both fresh and salt water. People really need to think before acting, I would expect to see this on a PETA website and not one generated by sportsmen. No way will I sign it. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Beaver-Lake-Arkansas-Fishing-Report/745541178798856
Guest csfishinfool Posted January 24, 2012 Posted January 24, 2012 feathers, this is for tournament fishing... that's clearly stated. Thanks for you input it really is appreciated
Guest csfishinfool Posted January 24, 2012 Posted January 24, 2012 This is a quote from Dave Lefebre, Also the same person who turned me onto this petition. "I live on lake Erie, where I can catch 200 bass every single day if I want to, I can supply references to that fact because I know it is crazy. I fished the a rig for a mere 2 days and caught 83 combos man! (4 quadruples, 49 triples, 30 doubles). That's 223 fish on 83 casts....unheard of, unnatural, unsporting to the max, not what pro sports are all about." ENOUGH SAID
Mitch f Posted January 24, 2012 Posted January 24, 2012 Did it make him keep more fish than the limit? I think not "Honor is a man's gift to himself" Rob Roy McGregor
Guest csfishinfool Posted January 24, 2012 Posted January 24, 2012 This is for tournament fishing READ THE PETITION!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Feathers and Fins Posted January 25, 2012 Posted January 25, 2012 Cs, all do respect, game and fish commissions do pay attention to tournaments to a degree and this may well give them idea's plus those who are against fishing may also see this is a route to go after other set-up's. It should be up to each tournament as to what they wish to allow and disallow for that tournament. We as sportsmen need to walk a careful line about what we are willing to say should be "Banned" This should be voted on by the individual clubs for their respective tournaments all the way to the Pro-Levels. But not in a petition to ban any specific lure, rig, style or type of fishing. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Beaver-Lake-Arkansas-Fishing-Report/745541178798856
