Mark Posted February 3, 2012 Posted February 3, 2012 Has anyone ever been on a snowmobiling vacation to the Rockies?? Friends and I are discussing and would like some information based on personal experiences. We are mainly interested in Colorado since we would be driving and don't care to drive much farther than Colorado.
Daryk Campbell Sr Posted February 3, 2012 Posted February 3, 2012 I have went twice, trying to remember the name of the outfit we used. It went all of the way up to the continental divide. It was really neat. They offered snomobile, dogleds, and other snow type excursions. I will try to remeber the name of the outfitters, but I do recomend trying it. The 'sleds' had heaters on the handles to keep your hands warm along with the leg area. Money is just ink and paper, worthless until it switches hands, and worthless again until the next transaction. Mark Posted February 3, 2012 Author Posted February 3, 2012 Where exactly were you in Colorado? The more I read about the Gand Lake area, the more interesting it becomes. 300 miles of trails.
Gilly Posted February 3, 2012 Posted February 3, 2012 Up until a couple of years ago my mom had a home in Grand Lake. Nice area in the summer but she was out of there and back to Texas when the dog's water dish started to freeze. I do remember seeing at least 3 companies right in town and it amazed me the number of sleds they had and how current they kept them. The town itself doesn't have a lot to offer entertainment wise, pretty small actually. If you go you have to have Sunday brunch at the Lodge, assuming they're open year round. I would think Estes Park might have outfitters too. www.drydock516.com
Daryk Campbell Sr Posted February 3, 2012 Posted February 3, 2012 http://www.snowmobilecolorado.com/snow.htm This is the outfitter we used. Both years that we went, we had amazing tour guides. The lodge was really neat, and they had private trails that led into the National Forest. We got to look down on South Park, CO, that was really neat as I was really into the cartoon at the time. I can't believe that I couldnt remember the name. I do recomend this company. The name is "Good Times", and I must say they lived up to it. Money is just ink and paper, worthless until it switches hands, and worthless again until the next transaction.
