Members Rwilliams Posted February 4, 2012 Members Posted February 4, 2012 Does any one have any information on . Fishing the Niagua River north of the Tunnel darn. I just discovered this water. I am looking for suggestions . On fly fishing the area for Smallies or large mouth bass.
MoSportsmen Posted February 11, 2012 Posted February 11, 2012 I am looking for the same info just not downsteam of Tunnel I am wondering about up stream. Is there much jet boat or any traffic around the LeadMine access? Messing about in boats
fishinwrench Posted February 12, 2012 Posted February 12, 2012 Not much really, it's fairly remote and a good place to "get away from it all".
Members Rwilliams Posted February 16, 2012 Author Members Posted February 16, 2012 what about the fishing looking to do some fly fishing just below the Tunnel darn. Around some of the gravel beds
fishinwrench Posted February 16, 2012 Posted February 16, 2012 There's a bit of a conflict of location names I think. When you say "below Tunnel darn" are you asking about the stretch below the concrete dam (spillway) of Lake Niangua, or are you talking about the area downstream of the actual tunnel outlet ?
Members Rwilliams Posted February 17, 2012 Author Members Posted February 17, 2012 from below to the lake of ozarks just below the lake it self . their are some gravel beds with log james. I guess that would be down stream
fishinwrench Posted February 17, 2012 Posted February 17, 2012 The stretch from the lake Niangua concrete dam to the Tunnel outlet is iffy water and fishes like a farm pond (lots of gar, carp, buffalo, green sunfish) unless there is a good flow coming over the dam since all you're getting is surface water from the lake pool. If you want a chance at a Gator Gar in Missouri that stretch is your best bet. The migratory fish ( whites, walleye, Lm) moving up and down from LO mostly stop just downstream of the tunnel outlet.
